As for istanbul, depending on what you like, there are tons of staff to do.
I dont have any info on Grand Star hotel but ceck out this website for tours and info.

hi all vt users i'm travelling to istanbul on 7th of august and i wll stay in grand star hotel in taksem for 8 days .ang suggestion for interesting places to visit and any one interests to meeting and accompany me cause it's frist time for me in turkey .and what's the approprait clothes at this time?thanx in advance.

You can visit my IStanbul pages.. There you can have many suggestions and/or Must sees and must do's in Istanbul.. I will be out for a vacation also, But August is the hottest month in Istanbul.. So you shall carry all thin clothes, Sabdal type shoes and Sun creams are advised...

firsty i need to know which part of turkey do you want to go?. if you are looking for sunny beaches,night life and sea i recommend bodrum or alanya. if you are interested in history i recommend istanbul. you can ask me all your ouestions about turkey. my mail is : cemkilickaya@mynet.com

if you are looking for accomodation in istanbul I recommend RE-TUR Tourism. I think they can find you good 3 or 4 star hotel in very cheap prices.
