Nice stay for my 1st Experience in Istanbul

I recommend this hotel if you just make the booking from holidayinn site otherwise you will get a crazy expensive price if you just book it at the reception desk. I've seen their price list and it was almost five times double the price I paid at holidayinn site.

Unique Quality: There is a nice swimming pool that i didn't try because Istanbul itself was a big city to discover.

Holiday inn

We love Holiday inn, but this one was Ok, but not the best. First of all it’s located in old city (city wall 7 km long was next to us), so the streets are so narrow, that from our room we could see next building balconies and what they keep there, like 6 feet apart from us. Bar is extremely expensive just a glass of juice 15$.They also have Turkish bath, steam room and sauna, but it closes at 9pm,so when you after sightseeing ready for it, it’s closed. In the morning it’s closed till 10 AM, and you are ready for going outside at this time. It’s quite inconvenient.

Unique Quality: And they have a trap for guests, when you come into the room there is a basket with vine, chocolate and more, also the bar fridge is ful of beverages alcoholic and non .Don’t misunderstand it’s not for free, in a very far corner after you drink a can of juice you will discover the list of prices, they are way to high. If the same can in a super market is 99c,they put the price 4$.for 10TYL you’ll find a small pack of tea and coffee, probably after opening it,as you normally have at the hotels for free. But if you know about this trick, do as I did, just put it aside and say all people traveling with you that you can buy the same in a supermarket, just use it as a commercial for local stuff.

Excellent Location & Comfortable Rooms

The Holiday Inn Istanbul City/Topkapi is very conveniently located on the Istanbul Tram route. It's just a couple kilometers to the heart of the old city and historical sites like Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, and Hagia Sofia.

The hotel has very comfortable rooms and even on the street-side the rooms were quiet. The rooms are also fairly good-sized and two adults with big suitcases fit nicely. The minibar and tv area was quite innovative and nicely designed. Everything seemed to flow with the room. My boyfriend was really happy with the complimentary coffee/tea offered and replenished every day. I appreciated the free electronic safe provided in the room.

The hotel offers a spa, steam room, massages, and a Turkish bath which is convenient. I thought the prices were reasonable.

The lobby area has a large bar and lounge which was relaxing. You can order drinks, small snacks, or desserts in the lounge. I really liked their big comfortable couches that you can just sink into and relax in after a hard day of shopping/sightseeing :)

Unique Quality: The hotel was offering a complimentary airport shuttle when we visited back in early 2006. Reservations need to be made in advance and the shuttle runs from early morning to late night. Contact the hotel for more info.

As usual, the high-speed wireless internet was a plus!

And the hotel is very conveniently located right across from the Pazartekke tram stop. The tram goes to all the big historical attractions and connects to the Metro system for the big shopping centers. It makes getting around Istanbul from the hotel very easy and affordable.
