Good hotel in a beautiful place

We liked this small hotel, located close to all the major tourist attractions of Sultanahmet, with a beautiful terrace with a view over the Bosphorus and Marmara Sea, Hagya Sofia and the Blue Mosque. You can have breakfast on the terrace and even relax on hammocks.
Rooms are a bit small but clean and comfortable.
The hotel is at one edge of a quiet street dotted with restaurants and cafes.
The only and unique problem is the voice of the muezzin that will wake you up every day around 4 a.m..

Unique Quality: Terrace with great view, whre you can have breakfast and relax on hammocks

Nice hotel in Sultanahmet

My girlfriend and I passed 4 nights in this hotel.
It's a simple but confortable one, clean, and very very well located, 2 minutes walk from Hagia Sophia, that you can see from the terrace where the breakfast is served. You have also an unique view on the Marmara see.

This hotel is little (10 rooms) and so you can meet the manager very easily, in fact he is ALWAYS here, anytime you arrive. And he is very friendly, gives good advices (gives the name of good places, not the name of places where he has friends or a cousin).

In fact, you have more the impression to be in a kind of guesthouse.

I would say that if you look for a place not too expensive, the peninsula is very good for value.

Unique Quality: - Location.
- The staff, who is very kind.

THE BEST HOTEL IN SULTANAHMET

The area of Sultanahmet in which it is located ýs quiet and secure and you feel as though you are a member of a small and magic výllage, under the shadow of Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque.
The price is very reasonable and the breakfast was first rate: homemade yogurt, borek, fresh apricot preserves, bread baked on the premises, Tulay's famous cake.
During my stay there were renovations going on at their sister hotel: Alp Guest House with a projected finish date of September or so, doubling the pleasure of this jillion star hotel.

Unique Quality: Location is perfect ...... budget prices for luxury accomodatýons.

More about Hotel Peninsula

No way

by TripAdvisor Member nokia6198

I tried to book a double bed room at Hotel Peninsula through the official reservation email address of the hotel. After the first contact I received a very quick answer, that they have a free room available and I have just to send them my credit card number to reserve the room. I sent it and I got the confirmation. 2 weeks before the departure I tried to contact the hotel several times for a reconfirmation, but I didn't get an answer for weeks. To check the situation I used another email address to contact them with a new request. I got a very quick answer again, that of course they have a free room, just I have to send my credit card details. When I informed them that I am the same person as before, I didn't get any reaction any more.

Now I get stopped my credit card, so that the hotel would not to be able to charge it.

I definitely suggest for everybody not to book this hotel.

Wonderful Sultanamet Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member cingall

We just got home yesterday from Istanbul and staying 5 days at the Peninsula Hotel. I highly, highly recommend this owner managed sweet, home-like hotel. The location is perfect to walk to both Big Mosques ( Blue Mosque and Aga Sophia), around Sultanamet, catch a tram, watch festivities on the square, etc. The owner and employees ( all long time friends/family members of the owner) were totally friendly, and helpful, plus, knowledgable aboout Istanbul. The breakfasts were the best..rich yogurt with delicious cherry or peach topping, breads, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, cheese, jams, honey, fresh fruit, juices and good coffee! Of course, breakfast was in a lovely roof top area, actually, 2 areas, with the highest roof top area offering a terrific view of the Bosphorus and the top of the Blue Mosque both. Hammocks were availble and inviting, but, we were too busy seeing/doing Istanbul to use them! Our room was clean, air conditioned, homey with sitting chairs, small table, carpets on the floor, pictures on the wall, and nice, huge bath towels. Also, the price was cheaper thansome/most of the area hostels that we checked. Plus, the free breakfast and 10% less the price for cash. This has got to be the VERY BEST DEAL in Istanbul!! I/m telling everybody I know to stay there. I loved this place and everything about it! Carol Ingall

great little hotel

by TripAdvisor Member baxtor

This is a great little hotel. The location is perfect, on a quiet cul de sac ½ block from small restaurants, groceries, and internet cafes. Downhill about 3 short blocks is a sea wall that stretches forever where you can jog with fresh sea air. Three short blocks in the other direction are Haghia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The rooms are immaculate, made up every day, and there is plenty of hot water. The staff are smart and helpful and have a sense of humor. The breakfasts on the roof terrace overlooking Istanbul are wonderful. You look out over the Sea of Marmara, and then turn around and can touch Haghia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The other guests we found to be interesting and engaging, and one had returned to this same hotel 6 times

Great Place to Stay

by TripAdvisor Member mmoyer9

I actually stayed at two places in Istanbul. This place was far more superior than my other selection. They had wonderful quaint rooms for a great price, arranged transportation to/from the airport for a great deal, location was superb to all the attractions, and the staff was always very friendly and helpful. I do recommend to stay at this place to catch all the action!

Great Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member LadyLively

My son, daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Peninsula for a week in November, and this reasonably priced hotel was a delightful find. Upon our arrival at Ataturk International Airport, a driver/car was waiting to pick us up, arranged for by Mr. Huseyin Gultekin, who runs the hotel. Mr. Gultekin treated us wonderfully. The triple room reserved for us was comfortable, clean, and warm. The full Turkish breakfasts which are included were awesome! The pastries, breads, and delicious yogurt were freshly made, tea/coffee, eggs and veges -- a great spread to begin the day. The view from the terrace is wonderful, and would be a lovely place to sit in the summer months! All the other staff of the hotel were equally accommodating, courteous, friendly, and very helpful to take care of our needs. As an added bonus, the location of the hotel is a few minutes walk to the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Yerebatan Saray Sarniçi, called the Basilica (or Sunken Palace) Cistern, Topkapi Palace, and the Arista Bazaar. We purchased most of our souvenirs in the Arista Bazaar, as the prices were very reasonable.
We were very pleased and happy with the service we received, and I recommend this hotel!

Great place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member kiwiturk

Its a great spot in the heart of most of the attractions, for its price its definitely a good choice. We stayed at various other places but went back to Peninsula because it was clean and we didnt have any problems with them at all. Good breakfast that had cake and pastry, most hotels of this price didn't. The only bad things were the rooms are quite a squeeze if you have big luggage, and you WILL be woken up by the 5am prayer call from the mosque next door if your room is not on the street side, something that cant be avoided if you stay in the area in general. It's a great budget hotel, no fluff, but good friendly staff and nice warm place, a good deal.
