Construction

Istanbul is a very big city, that keeps growing all the time. Though the central area seems somewhat controlled (thanks God, thus preserving some authenticity), there are a few "islands" where skyscrapers grow side by side, and construction continues, larger and higher.
Not everybody enjoyed the snow
by Gokcecicek
The owner of the white car (on the right) tried to park his car. However the car slipped because of the ice on the hill. The car in the middle slipped as well. But because of the small truck (on the left) he could not move much so his back was in the air and the white car filled the gap. Nature :))
When it snows be careful in Istanbul. The municipalities do not work properly and you can have accidents everywhere especiall on the hills. Not only your car, but while walking you can slip as well.

Emirgan&Tarabya
by KIZGINdamdakiKedi
Emirgan is famous for its seaside cafes and the large city park on the slopes behind it. The Verifier Yahsi (seaside mansion) on the shore and the pavilions inside the park that serve as cafes are examples of Ottoman architecture from different ages.
The annual Tulip Festival is held in the park, which contains pools, groves and lanes suitable for hiking and jogging. It is a popular recreation area, particularly on holidays. Below the park is the small bay of Istinye, which for many years housed the shipyards. These have been removed recently, and the area has been restored as a recreational area and marina.
The modern highways across the hilltops run to the sea in Istinye and Tarabya. The latter is an old settlement around an extremely beautiful and well-known bay. The district is famous for the summer residences of the President of Turkey, the american consulate and the German embassy, the beach facilities, a 5-star hotel and the restaurants lining the shore.
Would you look at the size of THAT!!!

The fruit and veg here is bigger than anything we have in the UK and bloody cheap! It was great staying with a local family because I was able to buy ingredients for the evening meal and help prepare them! The stall-holders are very proud of their produce too, and the younger ones are quite happy to pose for a photo - but do ask first! The local produce is great value! next to nothing for fruit and veg
