 | Hotel Sultan's Inn: Lots of character

On the recommendation of friends, we had booked to stay at this hotel when we first arrived in Turkey. At the time, they offered a free pickup from the airport. (I think there may be a fee involved now.) The driver met us and drove us to the hotel. However, on arriving at the hotel, they informed us that they had made a mistake and double booked, and so organised for us to stay at the Naz Wooden House instead. This was all done without any inconvenience to us and we were driven to the Naz. (The Naz is as nice, but the rooms are quite a bit smaller.) However, because we had heard so much about the Sultan's Inn from our friends, we decided to stay here when returning to Istanbul after travelling around Turkey. We stayed here for a total of 4 nights and didn't regret it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and they serve a good buffet breakfast. It is a short walk to the hippodrome, the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sofya and there are lots of eating places around in the area.
The hotel has a lot of character. The furnishings make you feel like you're not in just any standard 3 star hotel. The breakfast room and terrace have a view of the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara, and is a good place to relax and have a glass of wine (we would just buy a bottle and bring it back to the hotel) or a cup of tea after a long day's work of sightseeing or shopping.
