Lots of character

On the recommendation of friends, we had booked to stay at this hotel when we first arrived in Turkey. At the time, they offered a free pickup from the airport. (I think there may be a fee involved now.) The driver met us and drove us to the hotel. However, on arriving at the hotel, they informed us that they had made a mistake and double booked, and so organised for us to stay at the Naz Wooden House instead. This was all done without any inconvenience to us and we were driven to the Naz. (The Naz is as nice, but the rooms are quite a bit smaller.)
However, because we had heard so much about the Sultan's Inn from our friends, we decided to stay here when returning to Istanbul after travelling around Turkey. We stayed here for a total of 4 nights and didn't regret it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and they serve a good buffet breakfast. It is a short walk to the hippodrome, the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sofya and there are lots of eating places around in the area.

Unique Quality: The hotel has a lot of character. The furnishings make you feel like you're not in just any standard 3 star hotel. The breakfast room and terrace have a view of the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara, and is a good place to relax and have a glass of wine (we would just buy a bottle and bring it back to the hotel) or a cup of tea after a long day's work of sightseeing or shopping.

Atmospheric hotel

This is a very pretty hotel, very clean, with fabulous large bathrooms, atmospheric rooms and very good prices. I have recommended this hotel to EVERYONE I know going to Istanbul because I enjoyed staying there so much.

Unique Quality: The view from the roof takes in a huge swathe of Sultanahmet and the Bosphorus.

More about Hotel Sultan's Inn

ok hotels in Istanbul

by don01 about around sultanamet area

We stayed in 4 hotels in Istanbul.
The best located was the park hotel opposite the 4 seasons
the others closer to the palace than the mosque (not very far away - all are easy walking)they were Denizkonak (I think from memory) and the sultans inn.
All were ok 3 star nice people, basically clean and ok service with fair breakfasts.

Nearer to the Grand bazaar was the pierre noir or name similiar - a little dearer but really a 4 star but you get more but overall -they all were not bad.

If you going site seeing find somewhere in the sultanamet area and just walk. Dont get too excited about tours its all there no need for buses etc.

tips: most hotels will arrange transfers to from airport & prices vary so ask before booking.
It seems the hotels will take all bookings then if they have too many then they have a "plumbing problem" and take you to a sister hotel the sister hotels are very similiar hence our 3 budget hotels.(they TAKE you so you dont get lost etc)
Lots of agencies for tours in sultanamet area so out of town trips are apiece of cake.

Have a great trip & bring home great memories

there have been numerous posts on this recently, I'd suggest you start by reading through some older threads, and checking the many great IST members' pages.

also, if you provide a price range and location, that's sure to help!
