  • Delightful Hotel

Stayed here for a week and could not have been happier. The room was large, charming and very clean. The bathroom was large as well, and included a whirlpool tub.,The staff was very nice and helpful. Location is central, close to tourist attractions in Sultanamet and a 10 minute walk to the tram . Would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

Unique Quality: Stunning view from the rooftop deck.

    Great Location but Very Small

Im starting my page writing about the hotel since it was the thing that made a lot of difference for me at this trip.
After lots of homework i decided to stay at SultanAhmet (the old city) a quiet pictursque old neighborhood. Beautiful small butique hotels, each one in different color, small buildings, nerrow short (as we call them dutch streets) streets, hardly any traffic, small cafes / restaurants and bars around. The blue mosque, Aiya Sofia, the grand bazar etc' is within a short walking distance. taxi to the city (To taksim area) is pretty short and relatively cheap and you also meet a lot of travelers around which was a nice experience for me cause i was there during the mondial (socer/football world cup days) and also i met friends that added a lot to my trip, And thats something that is more likely to happen in such small sweet neighborhood.
The hotel it self is a real lovely small hotel, the problem was that my room - single room - was really SMALL. the first feeling i got when i arrived was to move to other hotel and i crossed the road to check the other hotel that i knew from my homework and almost moved there, but then after a few hours walk i was exhaustad and decided to stay at this hotel thinking to my self that im so tired and im anyway not going to spend time in my room so let it be. So i had a small room but all the rest was really good. The price was a bit expensive for this very small room but if you'll be staying in a big room i think its a great hotel to stay in.
Like most of the hotels in SultanAhmet, the Uyan hotel has a nice tables to dine on its Roof.
It feels great to go up in the morning, enjoy your breakfast while watching from one side the Marmara Sea the land on its other side and from your other side the Blue mosque the aya sofia (its so close to the hotel only aprx. 200 - 300meters) and other beautiful roofs.

Unique Quality: As i said, The good things about the Uyan hotel is its great location, its a beautiful small butique hotel, decorated nicely, the staff people were nice and the roof balcony and tables for
On the other hand, its a small streets just a a few steps to cross the road which means that thae guests at the Hotels accross the road are not so far from your window... and the turkish waitres's guys likes to look into your windows so watch out unless you like to give a free show.
In a nut shell i'd not change for nothing this location and would not ever stay in Taksim... never say never but for now this is what i think.

  • Great Stay

Just finished a stay at the Uyan Hotel and has a great time. I'm not one to spend a lot time in the hotel while on vaction so I wasn't expecting much but I was happily surprised at the Uyan. GREAT location, GREAT views from the roof, deluxe room was nice sized with a big bathroom, clean, had a cozy feel to the place since it only has 40 rooms. Staff was friendly and very outgoing and the price was only $80 a night, if I ever return to Istanbul I would definetly stay there again.
Photo was taken of the blue mosque from the the roof of the hotel at sunset.

Unique Quality: Great views of the Blue Mosque and Haiga Sophia

    Terrific Hotel in Sultanahmet

Stayed at this hotel following other comments on the VT site. Terrific location, freindly staff and good value. They even arrange airport pick up and drop-off.

Unique Quality: The view from the restaurant is fantastic. Left - the Blue Mosque. Right - Aghia Sophia.
Don't go to their recommended restaurant though - use Balikci Sabahattin around the corner (a fantastic fish restaurant).

    Uyan Hotel

Uyan hotel is situated in a very quiet are in the center of the old historical city. It is decorated with an old style, with some oriental elements.
I will never forget 3 things:
    1. The breakfast with wonderful view to Ayia Sofia and Blue Mosque.
    2. Playing piano in late afternoons.
    3. The unbelievable hospitality of all staff of the hotel! They really make you feel at home!!

Hotel with amazing view and great people!

When I was looking for a hotel this time in Istanbul, I was a little confused. I wanted to stay in the Sultanahmet area and almost every hotel in internet offered the same things. It was really difficult to find out which one was the best..
But...VT made it much easier. VT member Erkmen recommended hotel Uyan to us...and it was the best choice!!

The Hotel Uyan is located in the historic area of Sultanahmet, just a few meters from Aghia Sophia and Blue mosque.

Unique Quality: The hotel was renovated in 2002, so everything is almost new. Beautiful rooms and a terrace with outstanding view..
But the most important thing is the way the hotel staff makes you feel there. They are all so kind and friendly...
Thank you all for the great time we had!!

    Sultanahmet Otels: Uyan Hotel

Uyan hotel is located just in between St Sophia and Bluemosque in Sultanahmet area.. The hotels construction is belonging to 1930s but it was renovated in 2002 and looking a nice and good hotel..

The hotel is an ideal location if you plan to stay in the touristy area.. It has 16 standart and 10 deluxe rooms, all decorated in a special style on the 4 stored building...

I havent stayed in this hotel but l I have adviced to VT Members Mardaska & Vassiliki during their visit to Istanbul.. And they were quiet satisfied on their stay. You can find more info about the hotel on their net page, it is well presented.. And for more details contact Mardaska from VT. :)

Directions: Near the four seasons hotel at Sultanahmet square..

Great Boutique hotel

by gypsii about Uyan Hotel in Sultanahmet

Personable staff and comfortable accommodations. Beautiful views from rooftop. Good location close to Sultanahmet and Aya Sofia.

The Hotel was highly recommended by VT members and it did not fall short of my expectations. The facilities are superb and of good standard. Room sizes may vary, but you can expect more than average regarding comfort.

The hotel is situated in a very safe part of Sultanahmet area, within walking distance to the main square.

With out a doubt the staff of the hotel are outstanding. Everyone from the owners -who sit to have a chat with the guest- to the reception staff and the cleaning ladies were so fond. It really felt like home from the minute I walked in.

And of course, I can't finish this tip without mentioning the fabulous terrace where breaktfast is served.

Great Hotel in the shadow of Sultanahmet Square

by bosverb about Hotel Uyan

I would highly recommend Hotel Uyan to anyone visiting Istanbul. It is located about two blocks away from Sultanahmet Square, nearby to the Four Seasons Hotel. The rooms are beautifully decorated and relatively inexpensive if you are used to traveling in Western Europe. The hotel has been wonderfully restored to it's 1920s-1930s splendor. The staff are very friendly and I very much enjoyed the traditional Turkish breakfast of meats, cheeses, dates, olives, yogurt, and Turkish tea or coffee. I will stay here again. My only warning is that while there are some touristy restaurants to enjoy around Sultanahmet, there aren't really any bars or clubs in that area. For travelers who enjoy a greater access to nightlife, I would stay on the other side of the Golden Horn (but still in the European side of Istanbul) in the Beyoglu District. The view from the rooftop patio is by far the best I have ever had in any hotel anywhere, ever, period. The building rises high enough that you almost get a 360 degree view of the surrounding area. You can see both Haghia Sophia and the Blue Mosque in all their splendor, and they are so close it seems you could throw a rock and hit them (although I wouldn't dare!). The Bosphorus and the Asian side of Istanbul are also visible, and it is a beautiful place to watch the ships as they come into Istanbul from the Sea of Marmara. At night when they light up the Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia, it is a very magical place.

Uyan Hotel or Nena Hotel

Have looked at both these hotels and they do look very nice indeed and within our budget. They are in the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul. Of course, that means nothing to me as I have never been there. Any of you guys have any views of those hotels and also the area.

Would you know if they are well located for public transport and, in particular, the metro.

We are also intending to go in ealy March. I daresay that it will be very cold and unpredictable weather at that time!

the added attraction of these two hotels is that they do free pick-ups from Ataturk airport.

regards, Peter
