New Marriott in town.

On the Asian side. Not open until August 2007.
If your on business then ok but as a tourist hotel no.
Situated by a motorway junction i hope the sound proofing will be ok.
Supermarket complex next door.

Getting around the city and shopping

by Samiya

Greetings all. I'm staying at the Courtyard Marriott next to International Airport in Instanbul next week in a group of 4. This is my first visit to Istanbul and want to see if subway and bus are within walking distance from hotel (how far)? Also if any shopping (apparel and household e.g., IKEA) are close to hotel. Thank you for your time and help.

If you google "courtyard marriott istanbul" the Courtyard Marriott site will come
up. If you scroll down you will see they say that the nearest underground/subway/metro is at the airport, 4km away.

You might also read the reviews on Trip Advisor, especially one person who wrote of their experience there during the volcanic ash delay.

First there is no bus or subway to your hotel from the airport you have to take a taxi. Since it is too close to airport some taxi driver may not to take you to your hotel. ıt takes just 5 minutes by taxi to your hotel from the airport

Some part of your hotel area is commercial district but some part is poor residential area.

There is a huge shopping moll called Forum Istanbul and there is also Ikea in it. I recommend you to go there by taxi if you are 4 people. It cost you around 10-12$ for one way. There is no metro to there and not sure whether there is a bus. Best was it to take taxi.

Also there is another shopping mall very close to your hotel called Istanbul 212. But is not in walking distance. It may takes 20-30 minutes by walking but I don’t recommend you to walk. Take taxi. It cost around 3$ ride.

Ok. Thank you.

Thank you for the details you provided. Very helpful. Seems the taxi will be our main ride around town from the hotel. Thank you again for taking the time to share the info you sent. Best.

There is a shuttle which runs from your hotel to the airport, and vice versa. Shuttle also goes into Istanbul a couple of times a day. Have a look at the website I gave you.
