Grand Bazaar
by leila12
Will the Grand Bazaar be open on Sat, September 19? I ask this question because that is during the weekend before Rammadan and I worry that it might be closed for the holiday?
Also, does anyone have suggestions for fun Rammadan celebrations? Thanks!

Travel Tips for Istanbul
Weather in July
by AlperIst
Hi Elena,
It will be hot and humid, but not more than Athens. One or two weeks it gets really bothering almost every summer, so it depends how lucky you are.
Istanbul is always crowded. The number of people who can afford to go resorts is very limited accordingly 15-million population.
Cheers.

Galata Anglers.. on a weekend
by Erkmen
Galata bridge is connecting Karakoy to Eminonu.. Or connecting Istanbul peninsula to Galata & Pera..
The bridge itself is around a km long. The historical bridge wasburnt after a fire and on 1992 another bridge has been built. This bridge is the meeting point for Anglers..
The scene on the bridge is amazing.. Especially during weekends, you can see hundreds of angler, trying to catch a fish from the Marmara sea..
Just 10 days before the new year, people are enjoying the sun and laying their anglers waiting for their luck..
Turkey's varied...
by PinkDolphine
Turkey's varied climate—generally a dry, semicontinental Mediterranean variant—is heavily influenced by the presence of the sea to the north, south, and west and by the mountains that cover much of the country. The sea and the mountains produce contrasts between the interior and the coastal fringes. Several areas have the winter rainfall maximum typical of the Mediterranean regime, and summer drought is widespread. However, the elevation of the country ensures that winters are often much colder than is common in Mediterranean climates, and there are significant contrasts between winter and summer temperatures.
January mean temperatures are below freezing throughout the interior, and in the east there is a sizable area below 23 °F (-5 °C); extremely low temperatures occur at times, with minima from -4 °F (-20 °C) in the west to -40 °F (-40 °C) in the east. The duration of snow cover ranges from two weeks in the warmer areas to four months in some mountainous areas in the east. The coastal fringes are mild, with January means above 41 °F (5 °C). Summers generally are hot: July means exceed 68 °F (20 °C) in all but the highest mountain areas, 77 °F (25 °C) along the Aegean and Mediterranean, and 86 °F (30 °C) in the southeast. Precipitation is strongly affected by relief; annual totals of 12–16 inches (305–406 millimetres) are characteristic of much of the interior, whereas the higher parts of the Pontic and Taurus ranges receive more than 40 inches.
Princes' Islands
by 80-bettyboo
If u wanna get out of Istanbul and relax, u can try to go islands.Cool sea breeze and elegant 19th centuary houses..
Princes Islands' were places of exile for Byzantine princes.
the name of the islands : Buyukada, Kýnalý, Burgaz and Heybeliada.
There is 9 island in fact but these 4 are inhabited..
Buyukada is the largest one, u can enjoy a horse-drown phaeton , relax on the becah ( but I don't recommend you to swim ) or rent a bicycle..
To get there : There is ferries running from horbour at Sirkeci plus some sea bus service from Kabatas..
there's so much more than only the grand bazaar !!
by Tjello about grand bazaar
- The streets surrounding it are very well worth a closer look.
The vendors are not half as obtrusive and there's less of us, tourists.... - well, clothes of any kind, jewelry, CD's (turkish),
(very) old posters, indeed carpets,
