A great place to stay!
by Narunj
Kalyon hotel is a great place to stay for both business and tourism purposes. I spend there 7 days of which 3 for a seminar. I liked the rooms, the restaurant, the food of the hotel as well as the staff's proffessionalism.
To those planning to organize a conference/seminar in Kayon, I would suggest to reserve the conference room at the first floot rather than the one at the ground floor since there are no windows there.
When reserving a room in Kalyon, try to choose one with a sea view - the amazing view of Bosphorus.
The hotel also suggests organizing various trips, like a cruiz along Bosphorus, but it is much cheaper to have such trips on place - without the hotel's assistance.
The hotel is not a cheap one, but it is reasonable to spend a little more money for having a great rest.

The Old Town Classic
by yurxlnc
Excellent hotel with good service and a good situation on the sea. It is in the centre of the historic peninsula of Istanbul by the Sea of Marmara.
The hotel has 110 rooms, 4 of which are suites. Each room has a bathroom and hairdryer, air conditioning, IDD telephone, wireless internet connection, cable TV and minibar
There are meeting room facilities.
The mosaic restaurant also has a Terrace Cafe and Bar. The Bouquet Bar has live piano music in the late afternoon.
The cuisine integrates Turkish and International cuisine.
Unique Quality: The views are wonderful.
The breakfast is exceptional with a wide selection of cheeses, cereals, juices. In fact it is just LAVISH.
Directions: on the shore lane of the penisula

Yenikapi's Best Hotel
by evliyasems
I liked Kalyon Hotel.Throughout its colorful 35-year history, The Kalyon has warm welcomed generations of guests from all around the world who enjoy its elegant lifestyle.
Expansive stretches of Marmara Sea provide a spectacular setting for our four star world-class hotel and its relaxed, charming ambiance.
The Kalyon offers its guests the highest standard of personal service. An absolutely charming hotel and take excellent care of all their guests.
Enjoy visiting the historic part of the Istanbul which is walking distance from Kalyon. Later, spend a peaceful evening dining at one of our two fine restaurants, meeting friends for cocktails, or enjoying a night out on the town.
Over the years, our guests have contributed to The Kalyon's unique personality and lore, filled with exclusive meetings, dinners, weddings, balls attended by royalty, presidents, celebrities, and leaders of business and industry from across the country. Yet Kalyon Hotel has first and foremost been a place for elegant leisure, and we invite you to become a part of our tradition.

Hotel Kalyon is on the shore in Sultanhamet. The staff are friendly and rooms fine. Other than meeting rooms, there are few facilities (eg one internet connection). You will also need to get to know some back streets (safe) to get up to Aya Sofia, etc. One great bonus is that for the six nights I was there, on all but one occasion breakfast was accompanied by the sight of dolphins coming into the shore!

Kalyon Hotel

Hi,
I'll be staying in Kalyon Hotel when visiting Istanbul in July.
Can anyone say if the hotel is really a good one as their website says.
Also, I know it's in Sultanahmet district, so I'll be able to visit the sightseeings nearby. I would also like to have a cruiz along Bosphorus. Where should I go (and how) to take a boat?
Thanks,
Narunj

Kalyon is the hotel where my some business guests stay. It is in a class of 3-4 stars. Although it is close to Sultanahmet area, it is on sea side / on skirt of Sultanahmet hill. So, you need to climb / walk-up this hill when you want to go to Sultanahmet area. Don't be fooled by their picture (view of seaside through the window) on their web site. Actually, there is a road between the hotel and the sea producing some noise. Other than these, Kalyon is a good hotel. If you want to walk to Sultanahmet area every day, I recommend you an hotel on top of this Sultanahmet hill. There are many there. Boats for Bosphorus trip on the opposite side of this hill; in Eminonu. If you stay in Kalyon, you will need to take a taxi to go to Eminonu which goes along seaside. Takes 5 minutes only. If you stay at an hotel at top of Sultanahmet hill, then, to go to Eminonu, you can take tram which takes 5 minutes only.
