The fondest memory of Istanbul? People we met! They presented us their time and their hearts. They made an increadible table (on a floor) They danced for us a traditional curdish dance. They played buzuki!

How far is the main bus terminal?

Approx. 10kms from Sultanahmet.
From Sultanahmet - take the tram (Kabatas-Zeytinburnu Tramvay) and get off at Yusufpasa tram station (5th station from Sultanahmet).
Walk up the stairs /pedestrian bridge, turn left, then take the down stairs on your right, walk a minute and turn left on the first street, walk some 50 meters just before the main highway on your left is the underground passage/pedestrian. Get down, walk to the right passing many shops until the end and take the stairs on your left (you can follow the sign) and you’ll emerge on the façade of the metro terminal, buy a ticket from the window and get down to the metro track below.
This metro will take you to the huge main bus terminal of Istanbul. It’s the 6th metro station (Otogar) from Aksaray station.
From Taksim - the best way is by bus, from the main bus depot in Taksim Square, wait for Bus# 83 O (letter O), this is the Otogar-Taksim bus that will whisk you in an hour to the main Otogar.
From Ataturk Airport - piece of cake - get out from the main arrival exit door of the airport, turn right and few meters you’ll see the elevator and the Metro sign, get down and at the far end to your left is the Metro station. Buy a token and jump in the Metro (Havalimani-Aksaray Metrosu). The Otogar station is the 10th metro station from the airport (not including the Airport station on your count of course).

In most places there are no price-tags. You are supposed to ask and a price would be given depending on where are you from and how innocent you look outside. Taksim is a better place to shop than in Bazars where you are always tied into a friendly conversation and find it diffciult to get out of it.

Ah, don't you just love the dodgy buildings as you stroll the deserted streets on a winter's morning with the frost biting at your fingertips and the cobbled stones imprinting on your shoes checking out the faded colours of an empire in decay. I did.
Ciragan Sarayi
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
Ciragan Palace was an Ottoman palace. It was constructed between 1863 and 1867. Now it is a five-star hotel of the Kempinski Hotels chain. It is located on the European shore of the Bosporus between Besiktas and Ortaköy.
You may watch my high resolution photo of Istanbul on the Google Earth according to the following coordinates 41° 2' 3.26" N 29° 1' 33.78" E or on my Google Earth Panoramio Ciragan Palace.
