Very near to Istiklal Caddesi
The hotel room looked much better in the Istanbul accomodation websites, so much so that when we first had a glimpse of the actual room, our first instinct was to franticaly look for another hotel. The room was really small with worn out furniture and carpeting, totally undeserving of the four star rating. If it had not been for our two young children who were totally exhausted from the long plane trip plus the hassle of cancellation, we would have gone elsewhere in a flash.
Buffet breakfast was totally boring, same menu everyday for the entire week we were there.
I have never encountered such small elevators that takes forever to get to your floors but it was better than taking the stairs.
The staff however was the redeeming factor, extremely friendly and helpful especially one particular doorman who was more of a jack of all trades in the hotel.
Unique Quality: The location of the hotel is unbeatable; Istiklal Caddesi was right at our doorstep, 1 min walk away. We can see Taksim Sq from our window and the place is alive at all hours with sirens and loud noises.
Plenty of places to eat and shop around the vicinity. Great for people watching. The Metro station is nearby so is the antiquated Istiklal tram that goes up and down the very busy pedestrian road.
