Hotel suggestions

by smokey77

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. Now, I would appreciate recommendations for Sultanahmet area hotels. Prices - within USD $100.00 (or less!) range for a room sleeping 4 people. I have looked up Blue Hills hotel and Hotel Petrol and they both look reasonable. Please, please provide me any information or comments you have for those two hotels urgently since I will be travelling soon.
Thanks and have a pleasant holiday.

Hi, I know the 2 hotels and their location. Both in sultanahmet.I never stayed there but I had a look on internet.Blue hills seems to have bigger rooms.Try this one:

Hotels in sultanahmet are a little bit expensive, do you really want to stay there? Or just close to?

Try the Side in Sultanahmet

Re: Hotel suggestions

I don't agree with side in utangaç sk, it is expensive for what it is.hotels rooms are dark , but very clean, no view from the windows, breakfast is very poor. The apt are in the basement and not sheap.Beside all this , the staff is very nice except one: the night receptionnist.Internet is not free when it is in all hotels.

Beside (almost) the Grand Bazaar is my favorite place of stay in Istanbul, superb cleanliness, friendly but not bothersome, and at a quiet street - www.hotelinteristanbul.com

Fortress of Europe, Rumeli...

by leffe3

Fortress of Europe, Rumeli Hisari. This features in guide books, but because it doesn't have a ferry terminal, frequently missed out on the Bospherous cruises. Fantastic location at the narrowest point of the Bospherous, this deeply impressive fortress was built in just 4 months. Hardly used for its original intention, much remains as it was, with the exception of the obvious restoration and landscaping of the interior gardens (controlled wilderness - welcome shady resting areas from the heat and the quite difficult clambering about on the castle walls). Three or four very nice restaurants/cafes along the shores of the Bospherous make this quite a sedate 'day out' away from the excesses of the more obvious tourist jaunts. Not the easiest place to get to - in the end, a taxi was simplest ($10) and a long (one hour to Otokoy market) but enjoyable walk back all along the shoreline.

How to bargain tip

by Lion_Beat

First of all be sure you are shopping in a place where they don't have fixed prices (tags)! ... :) ... That's where you can bargain!
Second: decide for yourself what would you like to buy.
3rd: decide how much you are willing to pay for that! Well that's really funny sometimes! Because the price sometimes can fall ten times less then initial.
technigues:
Do not show your interest for the item you are interested in, ask for someting else instead, and again, and again something else. ... stop... know you can ask about your item... the price should be already smaller. Now start asking about that item, ask, ask, ask... But do not show your interes. At this time price should be even smaller! Look at the item, analise it, and... make a step like you are going away... Now the fun starts! With your first step price became smaller, look at the seller, and make the 2nd step... and go on untill you will hear the last price... And it still can be not the last price!
Another tip: try this when you don't want to buy anything, just for fun, and you will learn the real price of the item. Next time try again in some other place. After that you can buy it!
