Noisy

Most people that got a room at the street side changed rooms because of the unbearable noise all night and day from the street. The airconditioning was also very loud. Very hard beds. Our room was clean, bathroom ok. Sauna and hamam ok, good pool.

Unique Quality: Great view from the breakfast room. Breakfast ok.

excellent location

We (wife and I)stayed there at the end of march 2008. The hotel was above our expectations. Spacious rooms with soundproof windows, bathroom even had an extra telephone right by the toilet. Well, I prefer good old newspapers while sitting there...Satelite tv with rather small choice of non-turk programmes and a mini bar were also there. Buffet breakfast solid, there is also a bar in the lobby. The overall impression: nice and clean. And the most important: hotel Marble has a excellent location only 100 metres from Taxim square and famous Istiklal street.

Excellent Low Cost Choice

I stayed here from Jan 5 to Jan 10, 2008, and this hotel offered just what I wanted. It is an excellent hotel for those who plan a low cost trip and the location is very good: 150 meters (not 50 meters as some say on other sites) from Taksim Square and therefore from Istiklal Street (a sort of Champs Elisees for Istanbul). From Taksim you can take the Funikuler (underground system) or the subway (also called 'train') to visit good regions of Istanbul. We asked and were given a Bosphoros view! At night the view is fantastic!

Unique Quality: The hotel is marked 4 stars but it does not diserve this. On occasions you have to make compromises. However, it is certainly a 3-stars or 3 and one half-stars hotel.

Breakfasts are not that impressive but you can make up a good one if you are selective. The restaurant also includes a partial view on the Bosphoros.

The staff is polite. The rooms are clean and are made on a daily basis. Hot water is good and did not notice dirty water as some reviewers mentioned... A TV which is a little bit old (but with colour) and with a poor remote control, but you can watch CNN, BBC and VH1 if you want to.

Istanbul was rather cold in January but not that cold (1-5 degrees on Celsius), but the rooms are warm. Frankly, we had to spleep with windows slightly open because it had gotten too warm. The room also includes the standard bathroom, fridge and safe.

We were told the hotel has a free pool and paid Turkish bath and massage. Did not try it and cannot opine.

Conclusion: great for low budget stays and very good location. Not suitable for demanding visitors.

More about Marble

Simple and nice 4-star hotel @ Taksim

by June.b about Marble Hotel (Taksim)

The triple room that my friends took was a bit small-ish but enough to move around, much like the size of the twin room we got.

Warning: Don't get the room with adjoining door if you know that you're noisy or the other way around. The other room will hear your voice unless you whisper or talk moderately. We got this room and we were knocked once because of the volume of the tv and our talks during one night we went home from a bar.

Location is really good, few walk to Istiklal Cadessi and the main square and the restaurants and fastfoods just around the corner at the main square, including McDonalds, Burger King, local eateries.

Room was clean, nice small beds for twin rooms, comfortable comforters and pillows, tv with english channels, view nothing to boast of - facing the other hotel building - the hotel has 2 buildings, one along the main road, the other at the back. Maybe the rooms along the main road are more noisy, ours not.

Bathroom with tub, and the usual sopa and shampoos and clean towels.

The hotel is big-ish so staff are not really that sooper friendly but the staff at breakfast table are nice. Sit at the far right when u enter the breakfast saloon to have a view of the marmara sea. The breakfast itslef is really good, lots of choices, fresh squeeze orange juice at extra charge. Hearty.

At Euro60 for twin room - it's a comfort. This price is a walk-in rate.

Recommended. Good breakfast, clean rooms, and great location - at the happening area near bars, clubs, food, etc...
