Good but should definitely improve more
by klay
I've stayed in the hotel two weeks during the business trip. The first impression was very positive, the reception clerk was helpful, spoke English, room was spacious. The positive opinion, however, somewhat deteriorated over the next twelve days.
Positives: spacious room (Europe standards), appropraite 5* furnishing, wide choice of stuff for breakfast, helpful staff (I had to change room in the middle of night, due to the other guests and it was quick, and as painless as possible at 2am), free parking for hotel guests, good location (close to the second bridge as well as a metro station).
Negatives: if you need more than "hello, how are you?", you realize half of the people don't speak English!, both me and my colleague had extra minibar items on the bill, but removed upon our protest. The bar (Baradox) offers drinks for ca. 20€ each, but half the normal size and very average taste, also the service is slow, only Turkish speaking.
Unique Quality: views
location (business travellers)
Directions: 4. Levent

Best one so far
by baronedivandastad
A sleek hotel with friendly staff and excellent rooms. Need I say more? recommended for all business travellers due also to its location, in 4.Levent.
Unique Quality: The whole hotel is unique but if I have to choose something it's the window between the shower room/toilet and the room itself. It's great to shower in the sun, even at 130 USD per night!
Directions: Just say 4 Levent.

Expensive but with compensations
by Chris_Bore about MoevenPick Hotel Istanbul
We stayed at the MoevenPick Istanbul. This is in the northern business district, near the metro 4.Levent (this is the last stop out on the metro). This was convenient for work, since we could get a taxi to the university campus (and with Istanbul traffic even this short trip took some time...) but it was very expensive. We paid $295 (US dollars) per night which included breakfast and 'executive' room. The hotel was nice but really far more expensive than it should have been. The executive rate does include access to the Skyline Lounge - on the 20th floor, with views and an outside roof terrace which is really nice. They also serve free snack buffet and drinks in the evening. The buffet breakfast was excellent and also included.
Within walking distance are two shopping centres - Metro City and Canyon - both modern but OK for a brief outing after a working day. On our day off we took the metro to Taksim which was much nicer, and would have preferred a hotel there had we known the area. The shoe shine boy at Moevenpick had one of those really big sunny smiles that made you feel welcome each time you passed by. Skyline Lounge roof terrace is really nice.
The hotel is listed as earthquake-proof (some others don't say but probably also are..)
