More about Ottoman Hotel Park

X-Mas at the Ottoman Hotel Park

by TripAdvisor Member LondonOolong

From reading reviews of the Hotel back years ago, the Park has been totally renovated. Our room was very Glam, spotless and had the feeling of being re-vamped very recently. Our only complaint (which we did not raise) was that the heating was a bit high, but it was unusually mild during Christmas we were told by everyone we met. The staff are very friendly and we were offered free drinks, shown a video of what the City had to offer and our bags taken to our tarted up room. The Turkish bath in the bathroom was a nice touch and although we left our room very late in the mornings after eating too much at breakfast, we always came home after a day sight-seeing to find our room spotless clean and our bed made in its sultan style elaborateness...

It's an uphill walk to the sights, but a 2 min cab ride for the price of a coffee gets u there.... Plus you do have the fish paradise restaurants of the Kumkapi a stone's throw from the hotel, and there's a 24 hour supply of cabs around to take you to the more hectic bars of Tunel.

All in all, I would visit again, as the location was right near the sea with great views of the blue mosque but you were amongst a living district full of families and friendly local people, and at night we felt very safe.

Pleasant & friendly in every way!

by TripAdvisor Member spdd

Our stay at Ottoman Hotel Park was a very pleasant experience. It's location was ideal for someone like us that are fond of walking around, close to some of Istanbul's most famous attractions. From the first minute we came to stay, up to the last minute that we left, the staff did all that it could to assist us and guide us in our visit. Especially Emre and Zuleyha had all kinds of information and tips that would help us explore the area and were very friendly and willing to help in any way they could.
I would definitely recommend Ottoman Hotel Park. It has been the relaxing piece of the unforgettable days me and my wife spend in Istanbul. I hope we will visit you again, soon!

Great hotell

by TripAdvisor Member SilverSnigel

Stayed for four nights, got my room upgraded free of charge due to availability. Pleasent interior design, nice rooms, great rooftop terrace with view over marmara, good breakfast and a very friendly but still professional reception from ms Tulay together with the rest of the staff. Location is within easy walking distance from Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque etc., and you can count on swift help with transportation to more distant locations if needed. Overall a very pleasent experience.

All I wanted was somewhere to stay the night - but what I got!!!

by TripAdvisor Member GToMoscow

This is a really nice hotel. The location is interesting, set amongst workshops of the shoe and textile trades whilst a short (and steeply uphill) walk to the main street running through the old town with the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque and a wealth of restaurants. Lots of character.

The roof terrace offers excellent views over the Sea of Marmara.

The rooms are really outstanding, the price extremely reasonable and the staff are very pleasant and efficient.

Very nice view from the terrace!

by TripAdvisor Member VeronaAllAround

The hotel is near the city center, rooms are really confortable and staff is kind and friendly.
Very good breakfast in a lovely terrace on the top of the hotel. Kindly reccomended!

a wonderfull hotel

by TripAdvisor Member tanuzi

It is located very close to the tourist sightseeings. It's brand new and very clean. The service is exellent. The design of the interior is wonderful and it gives the tipical orient sensation wich fullfil the stay in Instambul.

Good, with reservations

by TripAdvisor Member UKTraveller023

Location in Sultanahmet with views of Sea of Marmara was good for us. Brisk 10 minute walk up hill to main 'historic' street, tram etc. Busy street outside, expect a certain amount of noise (not a problem for us).

The whole hotel was newly refurbished and comfortable (Turkish 'bling'). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very nice on roof terrace.

Our deluxe (corner) room was large with views of the sea. The bed wasn't really long enough for me (although I'm only just over 6 feet tall) and the pillows were too big and firm so my feet were hanging off the end of the bed. No other pillows available apparently. Major problem for me.

Although we had no problems with street noise and other internal noise, a brace of air conditioning units were strapped onto the outside of the bathroom wall and on the two nights when these were operating we found it very difficult to sleep. Staff didn't really accept there was a problem (although they did send someone to have a look). We were lucky it wasn't summer when all the units would be going 24/7. Not all rooms would have a/c units strapped to the bathroom however.

The wifi just about works, but reception very poor in our room. Also one of the access points had no encryption of any type, and the router was left with default password in place so make sure you use a VPN.

As the saying goes, "don't get me wrong" - it's a nice place (although expensive) but with the flaws listed above. Unlike other reviews (which all seem extremely positive and have surprisingly consistent styles) I am attempting to give a balanced view. I wouldn't stay there again. If you are < 5'10" and don't mind thrumming a/c units all night I'd recommend it.

Home away from home...

The hotel was wonderfull. From an excellent reception to an excellent service. The rooms are just marvelous and brandnew. Most of the sightseeing monuments are within walking distance.
I recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to visit Istanbul and certainly if you want to feel at home away from home.

We would definitely stay here again

by TripAdvisor Member walliss009

If we ever return back to Istanbul we would definitely stay at this hotel again. What a beauty, comfort and elegance. Outstanding staff, very helpful and pleasent. Rooms are very well decorated, has the 5 star feeling, provides all the luxury hotel amenities, comfortable and clean. Also well located to all the historical sites. Breakfast, adequate choice of food.

Such a lovely view from the terrace retaurant

by TripAdvisor Member willsp32

Wow beautiful hotel, re opened few months ago, job well done. Beautifully decorated, well presented. Closely located to the international airport and the important sites, it will only cost you around 30 turkish lira to hop on a cab from the airport to the hotel, when we arrived we found out we could have received an airport transfer through the hotel. Very good staff, helpful and polite, especially Miss Zuleyha, as we arrived before the check in time , waiting for the rooms to be prepared Miss Zulyha showed ud around the hotel and offered a great turkish coffee while we waited also Mr. Emre at the reception very helpful. Rooms, well what can I say, it's comfortable, clean, in good size, lovely decoration comes with all the ammetities. Also you're close to sights as Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Grand bazar and Spice bazar. From the terrace you get a great view of the Marmara sea. Famous sea food restaurant area called Kumkapi is near by, full of sea food restaurants serving fresh sea food dishes. Very delicious but can be little pricey. ,

Istanbul in mid feb..too cold ?

by Supermancho

Hi everybody new to site and was asking if it was too cold to visit istanbul in feb?... will we see the sites or will it snow? lol...thanks heaps for any feedback :)

Re: Istanbul in mid feb..too cold ?

by ft1974

I'm afraid it will really be cold in Istanbul in February. If you are lucky, it will be about 5 Celsius. It's impossible to guess ıf it will be sunny or cloudly. But in spite of this, you can visit museums like Topkapi, Ayasofya. If you have a chance, I suggest you May or September.

It will be cold and it may snow. However, due to global warming it is not easy to make a very good guess. You may be lucky to catch some good weather. You can still see the sites in winter time. Come and enjoy Istanbul :)

Re: Istanbul in mid feb..too cold ?

It depend what you mean with cold ;)

I live in Oslo, Norway - considered a cold place. Istanbul have had colder weather and more snow than we have had for a few of the last 5 winters :)
I was there in late march, warmer than in Oslo, but still "cold".

We have a saying here in Norway;
There is no bad/cold weather, only bad clothes :o)
=> Put layer on layer with a windproof jacket + add scarf, cap & mittens and you will be ok... eh, not forget good shoes/boots and you will be ok.

Everybody thanks for the info..Looking forward to seeing Istanbul cant wait :0

Yes the best advice from your Oslo friend. When I visited during January was so glad to have worn my warm, waterproof walking boots - with feet nice and snug, you dont feel cold! Howeverlayers very good - I found all the most exciting basement bars and restaurants in Taksim were far too hot when you dressed to suit outdoor temperatures, This was a constant battle for me, as always peeling off indoors. If you dont have a good warm outdoorjacket then you can buy everything in Istanbul (they call them 'mont' jackets) and prices including warm leatherjackets there were incredibly good value, so you can certainly shop if it fits into your itinerary, most often you find bargains from the street sellers.
