Hey everybody. if you want to go to Istanbul, this is the place where you want to stay! nice , clean, warm people, and very affordable!
Istanbul is an excellent city and to enjoy it even more you need a good location : something sapphire definitly has.
Location is the best part of sapphire, with the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia about 10mins away, with the tramway about 3 mins away. Its situated in a traditional istanbul area with traditional street restaurants etc.
compared with others in the area, its price is excellent.
Housekeeping is okish, and breakfast is very nice and totally worth it.
Overall, the location, price and friendlyness of sapphire makes it an excellent place to stay in Istanbul, to enjoy the city to the full.
Hotel Sapphire in Istanbul is a very nice hotel. Best location in town! Frendly staff. Clean. Modern. OK prices. Good breakfast. The fixed all we asked for! I will for sure use this hotel also my next time in Instabul.
As first-time visitors to Istanbul it was important to be staying in a hotel that was within walking distance of the major attractions. Hotel Sapphire is an 8-10 minute stroll away from the Hagia Sophia, the Egyptian Spice Market, the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace. Connections by tram to more distant sites are just a few minutes away. Interesting restaurants in all price ranges abound in the area.
It was also important to us that the hotel staff spoke English well enough to be reliable advisors and friendly enough to care that our time in the city was well-spent. In fact, the staff excelled at that. We were picked up from the airport, welcomed warmly with fruit juice and little Turkish amulets to ward off bad luck, given expert advice and were treated with intelligence and hospitality all through our stay.
We ate in both the breakfast room and the dining room and were well satisfied with both experiences. The rooms were comfortable and quiet and gave us no cause for complaint. All in all Hotel Sapphire was everything that we could have asked for and we hope to repeat our stay there soon.
We stayed at the Hotel Sapphire with 3 ladies and we were very comfortable accommodated. The staff was very friendly, the reception, mr. Vural. Breakfast was great and everything was perfect.
Even when coming home this was once more a fact.
I forgot something personal and they kept it for me in their safe until someone was able to pick it up. Wonderful in one word!
When returning to Istanbul (I certainly will visit this lovely city again), I will know where I can stay comfortably.
Thank you, mr. Engin Evsen (manager of this hotel) and all personal. Teresa
Me and my wife spent a wonderful eight days in Istanbul, which is not an unfamiliar city for me as I studied there for four years in the late sixties and early seventies. We chose to stay in this area which I regard as the "heart" of Istanbul and which is familiar to me from my student days. Hotel Sapphire is situated in one of the quietest streets of this most historical section of Istanbul. We were picked up from Ataturk International Airport by the service provided by the hotel (almost like a limousine service in fact). Friendly staff greeted us warmly and did all they could to make our stay at this very conveniently located hotel as comfortable as possible. Our room was clean and comfortable with a balcony window that we could actually fully open for a bit of fresh air from outside. Good quality food was available for breakfast, which was also included in the price.
The hotel is currently being renovated section by section, but one is not aware of this until you talk to the staff. Unfortunately we couldn't find any information in our room about the newly built swimming pool or the Turkish bath until the very last day and just before our departure to Australia and were therefore unable to make use of these amenities, which I am sure we would have enjoyed. Next time we stay at this hotel, I would hope to find a booklet in the room providing details of all the available amenities together with breakfast times, an inhouse restaurant menu, swimming pool usage, a list of reputable restaurants and basic information about popular tours of the city and the surrounds. I would happily recommend this hotel to our friends who wish to stay in Istanbul.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Sapphire Hotel. The
accommodation was very comfortable and the staff were very
helpful/friendly. It's a perfect city hotel in the heart of Istanbul so
there is easy access to the major sights i.e. the Topkami.
Istanbul is a fascinating city and to have a hotel which is so central is important. Above all the staff are alway there to answer questions.
I also really enjoyed the breakfast! I would definitely recommend this hotel in Istanbul! Go for it book the Sapphire!
GENERAL
I am from Armenia and was having my honey moon in Turkey, so the most important for us was the gentle and kind environment, fine interior and the neighborhood with the most popular and "Have-to-See" places in Istanbul. So we find the hotel and we checked-in at a late night - the welcome drink was the first good experience after the trip. ... Small thinks can make one be happy.
The front desk did a quick check-in and after some 5 minutes (I didn't manage to finish smoking my cigarette) we were in the hotel room. ...Front Desk works professionally.
The standard double rooms are very comfortable yet are pretty small, but I will repeat myself the rooms are comfortable. ...The rooms are very fine for a 4 star hotel (I suppose it is a 4 star).
The bathrooms and beds are clean and periodically being cleaned ...Room service do their work fine.
Also there is huge assortment of any food for any taste on the breakfast and the restaurant service is fine. My regards to the F&B management.
Also, they have the safes in the rooms which may appear useless for most of tourists, but surely will be used once available for free. :)
Telling "Internet" Sapphire Hotel means a single computer in the hall which was not used for almost all days we spent there. Do not wait for business center with several PCs in a separate cabins in this hotel.
BE AWARE:
CAUTION: Please have in mind that they have only a one way transfer included in the price of room reservation, so either they will pick you up from the airport for free or will drive you there. You should pay for the second transfer and it will cost you around 50 YTL, which is around $40. We faced that misunderstanding there, but everything was resolved smoothly.
CAUTION2: I am not sure that the old town of Istanbul is the place to walk in the nights for tourists. It is totally safe in the daylights but you may feel some kind ugly after 9PM when the shops are closed and the light is low.
CAUTION3: It is very easy to get lost in the narrow streets of the old town, I never did a right turn on the right place of the right street-cross from the first try for all the days we was there. But it DO really worth it to stay in such place - beautiful, romantic and with that smell of history in the air.
SUMMARY
Do not hesitate in choosing this hotel as a place to stay from 2 days to several weeks in Istanbul - you will surely have a lot to do there - history and architecture, sea, ports and ships, grand bazar and small souvenir shops, restaurants on the bridge with well done seafood and other dishes are all close to you - a 15 minutes walk as a maximum (if you will go in right direction). Did you read all these to the end? :) Then thank you too.
The Hotel has new rooms, very modern, with a great bathroom and a wonderful shower. it's very confortable and they have a good breakfast. It's a silent place, I could sleep very well. It's very close to many touristic issues in istanbul, we could walk around, come back to leave what we had bought and go out again. They also have internet wireless for free, besides a computer on the lobby. They have a good price dinner. I really enjoyed, that's why I'm writing here!
Hi All,
We're spending 3 nights in Istabul at the end of August, and travelling with 18 month old child.
Have managed to shortlist our hotels to Hamadam or Sapphire Hotel. I'm leaning more towards the Hamadan as it looks very sweet....
Any experiences or comments or suggestions of places to look at?
Thanks in advance.
Do you mean HANEDAN ? If so I prefer Sapphire hotel in sirkeci.Haneda is in Akbiyik caddese, it is a very small hotel not far from sultanahmet square and tramway.Nice view from the terace.Sapphire is closed to the tramway station and eminonu if you want to have a trip on bosphorus.
Thanks for your answer.
Now I am very confused, isn't it easier to see the sites from Sultanhamed (spelling, sorry!)?
Hi
just type www.hotelsapphire.com
www.hanedanhotel.com
sirkeci is only a short stroll from sultanahmet.By tramway , 2 stops.
I was in Sapphire in April and really loved it. By this time the roof should be open as well. Location can not be better and service is impeccable. Pick-up from Ataturk if you stay 3 nights is also really helpful
HI Putns , can you please tell me where you booked Sapphire? Was it on their website?
Thanks
Hi
I stayed at the Hanedan and that and the Sapphire are in an excellent location. I didn't have any complaints about the Hanedan but judging by their website of the Sapphire and other posters feedback I would suggest staying at the Sapphire, especially with a toddler in tow. Have fun in Istanbul - it's a fantastic city!
Why don't you try the Turkman - this is a lovely little hotel right opposite the Blue Mosque and at night the views of the mosque are breathtaking - very reasonable as well.
Don't forget to haggle even for the hotel price =) I was really surprised because we went to a hotel in Divan Yolu (that's Sultanhamet area), we were given Euro150, I just joked around with the receptionist and haggled and got the price down to Euro 90!!
Enjoy your trip!
Thank you all - time has just flown and I still haven't finalised this! Will be emailing the Sapphire right now :)
Gosh, I'm starting to get excited now!!
Take care,
Me

Q: day boat trip to black sea at end of November? "Hi! I'll be in Istanbul in the last week of November and first week of December. Do the boats still run to the Black Sea for..."
A: "I don't know if they will run then, but anyway they don't quite go all the way to the Black Sea, only nearly."
