Looking for a luxurious Spa/Hammam treatment in Istanbul..

by VidER

Hi All.

I will be visiting Istanbul soon, and I am looking forward to try one of the Turkish Baths. But I have an issue with being exposed in public. All the public Hammams I have seen on the net have pictures of Clients laying half naked next to each other!

I don't want that, I prefer to be alone, maximum with the masseuse only.

Is there a 5 Star Turkish bath that you can recommend to me?

Thanks.

Hi there,

Hammams are mostly traditional, there might be private rooms for massage but when you're bathing, you can cover yourself with a clothing called 'peshtemal'.

In Turkish Hamam you will be taken into a cbin where you het your cloaths off. You will put your valuable things in a safe but I advice you to leave your valuable things at hotel and taske sufficent money with you. You will get two sheets called "peshtemal" With one of the peshtyemal you cover your hijap. Then you will be taken into the real hamam. In the middle of hamam there is a graat marmor plate where you will rest on it lying soma 20 minutes. It is a hot marmor. After 20 minutes the dirt in your skin will be rady to be cleaned. A man called Tellak will rub yoour dead shin and clean you. This is the adventure.

If you are rich sheik or prince you can close all hamam for 2 or 3 hours. if not an ordinaray person like me you will be treated "Duhuliye" according to the public.

Fishing at Kennedy Caddesi

By the new lighthouse in Kennedy Caddesi you will find in summer days several fishermen trying to catch something in the Marmaris waters. Is a nice walk to relax a bit from the hush & rush of the city…

Take a boat along the Bosphorus connecting the Black Sea with the Marble Sea. You will see the bridge between the two continents and you will feel this is a place where civilizations meet.
You will find boats departing from the small ports in the city center each 30 minutes and please bargain about the price - it's important for both you and the Turkish. You'll have a reduction for a group - this is how they drew our attention.
