Sun in winter
by Gokcecicek
This is the part I like in Istanbul... Reading newspapers under the winter sun. The lady in the middle was so lovely, I could not prevent my self from taking her photo. (Look at the couple on the corner... It seems they are enjoying the Sunday sun...)

International telephone access code of Turkey is 90.Then area codes. For Istanbul it is 212 (European side) and 216 (Asian side), Ankara 312 and Izmir 232. All telephone numbers are have seven digits in Turkey. If you are going to call Asian side of Istanbul from the European side, first dial the code, 0 216. From Asian side to European side first dial 0 212 and then the number. To call Turkey from a another countryfirst dial + 90 then (three digit area code), then seven digit number.
To make an international call from Turkey, first dial double zero then int. telephone code of your country, then your number. To call America will be like, 00 1 -your number-.
The best deal to call your country is by PTT (National Post, Telegram and Telephone Office) phone cards. They will come in 30, 60 or 100 credits. 100 credits will be fine for international calls. You can buy them from your hotel ( 15-30% more than the normal price), or from the post office.
300 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
by parsix
The leaflets of Cagaloglu Hamami reads : Have you ever been in a Turkish bath? Yo've missed on of the lifes great experiences an never been clean....
I believe there is little I can add to this. It is just incredible to be pamper for a few hours, have all you sins exfoliated with a deep body scrub, and to aliviate tension with a good body massage.
You come out just like new.
Local craft
by Luchonda about grand bazaar
The oldest and biggest closed bazaar in the world, has around 4000 shops and over 60 alleyway, covering a huge labyrinth in the city centre.
It is the place to be for shopping - you can find almost everything - and it is a sport to bargain with the turkish vendors.
The Paperrazzia team (esp.the ladies) had a problem choosing the gifts and bargain the price, but we catched the waiting bus for the hotel, just in time. Call it and you will find it.
Juwelery, leather handycraft .... They accept creditcards - but like to receive cash, dollars or euro - doesn't matter
