by anakin61

I will be in Istanbul in September, and I would really like to not miss my college team's game. Does anyone know if there are any Sports Bars in the city that will have American College Football on TV?

Hi anakin61,

The best and easy way to watch that TV channel from internet. American Football is not common in Turkey same as Europe. I suggest you to try search Google.

There is this bar, North Shield, in Sultanahmet. I see it while walking from Eminonu to Sultanahmet. There is always a huge list of games with hours in front of this bar. Maybe you can just ask them if you could watch the game you want.

Mehmet's Chains

by mrclay2000

Just as the Greeks in Constantinople used a heavy chain to seal up the Golden Horn against invaders and unwanted Genoese or Venetians, so Mehmet used a heavy chain to seal up the Bosporus, usually against those same Italians (to prevent their trading or succouring the city). The chains were linked from one of the keeps pictured here and anchored across the Bosporus to a keep on the less impressive Rumeli Kavagi, the Castle of Asia.
