Taksim Square Hotel
by kastoriani about Taksim Square Hotel
Good hotel. Nice new of the city from the restaurant. Try to get a room with a view of the Bosphorus. Half the room face the Square - a bit noisy if you want to have the windows open. On the expensive side, even with US standards. Easy access to nightlife and siteseeing. Clean. Helpful staff.

by faridah about Golden Age1 Hotel
View of the next building rooftop. Got a big room, with enough beds to fit 5 pax. It was a family room or something. Rooms are clean. Toilet a bit small. Heater not working properly, not enough to warm the big room and it smells of burning plastic after a while.

by Greatwalk0 about Grand Villa
Located right on Taksim Square, the La Villa Hotel is a diamond in the rough. Reasonably priced and with an EXTREMELY outgoing staff (not a common quality in hotel staff in Istanbul, unfortunately), La Villa is an excellent choice. While the hotel harkens somewhat to a Soviet-era hotel in Moscow, I would definately stay here again, given it's great location, good price, and helpful staff.
The rooms were nothing special, but they were clean, large and ours had a great view of the nearby pedestrian mall and Taksim Square.
Taksim Square is probably the most fun district in Istanbul! I strongly suggest spending at least a few of your evenings in this VERY fun area. Staff are competent, friendly, and honest.
Very small single room.
by June.b about Arya Hotel (Beyoglu/Taksim)
Booked Arya Hotel from their website online. Stayed for 3 nights.
1) Located further down the road from Taksim Square in one of the Sok of and almost at the end of Istiklal Cadessi going to Galata. Walking from Taksim Square to the hotel takes about 15 to 20 min. depending on the traffic of throngs of people walking along Istiklal which is constantly increasing until late evening. Istiklal is the center of happenings in Istanbul where the bars and chillout places are, shops, hotels, etc...
2) The single room I got is on the 6th floor, nevertheless, no view. Very small room w/ very small old bed, just enough room to change clothes, Tv with english channels fixed on the wall, small but clean shower/toilet.
3) Receptionists do not speak much english but fine. Breakfast is on the 7th floor, the last floor, windows with no view either. Breakfast is just bread butter&jam, boiled egg and the usual cheese, cucumber, tomatoes & olives + coffee of course.
4) I would not recommend it BUT for Euro 25 in Istiklal Cad. and an aircon room, I guess, it's ok for a night if you can't find rooms or first-timer in Istanbul and you want to be at the center of happenings. Yet, you can always surely find other hotels around starting at Euro 12 but non-aircon. Nothing I can think of.

Taxi it is!
Ur 5 and even if Havas is cheaper for singular traveller, it would be costlier for a family of 5, considering the more comfortable taxi - delivery at your doorstep.
Enjoy!
