by robc60

we are staying in cesme this june and hope to do some windsurfing in alacati.
is there a bus service which goes from cesme to the alacati windsurfing area
or do you think it would be easier to get a taxi or hire a car. we don't realy want to hire a car. after driving in london every day i like to have a rest from driving.

thanks robc

Sorry no service to the windsurfing beach just the town and it costs 6 pounds from there. Traffic in the area is almost nothing so hire is good and it's easier getting from the airport if you don't have a shuttle provided. Motorway from Izmir is a bit busy for 15 miles then it's a 3 lane joy with almost nothing on it. Map on my Alacati page, windsurfing beach directly south of the town. It's an hours walk, i know, i did it. By car from Cesme 10 minutes.

Alacati is an old fishing town near Cesme. You can reach to Alacati by bus or dolmus from Cesme. It takes only half an hour. You can find buses or dolmus until 24:00 hours late at night. This old fishing town has became a cultural attraction of Cesme. The old houses are restored and turned into fine restaurants, art galaries, and shops. Visitors are mainly rich Turks who live in Izmir. Because of its natural position Alacati is the 3rd best surfing place in the whole world. I advice to visit Alacati.

Travel Tips for Alacati

Banks

by Tdiver

Windsurfing is definately the main thing to do in town.
This requires money and there are 4 banks in town,Ziraat Bankasi just down from the 4 old winmills+90 232 716 90 50, also Garanti and Oyak Bank +90 232 716 81 56,on the main square. Is Bank +90 232 716 94 72 up towards the windmills, on the right, opposite.
There are also now 3 stand alone cash dispensers just below the 4 old windmills.
Halk, Akbank and Yapi Kredi.

The locals are generally very laid back people who enjoys life better than many city people.

They don't rush things, they cook mainly vegetarian food, enjoy wine, intellectual conversations..

The bold guy and the one with glasses owns a very interesting tango bar..And they do dance well..

hear the power of the wind..WIND MILLS..

by onurozel

In alacati you will realise wind mills. These are huge mills creating electricty from the wind power. It might be interesting visit to touch the mills and to hear the wind turning the mills around. For me it was an exciting experience.

"Alacati"

Alacati is one of the most beautiful small towns on the Turkish Aegean coast. If you're looking for friendly people, tranquility, beautiful beaches, really good food, and historic architecture, it's the place to go. Windsurfing is big here, too. Try not to go in July and August when it's packed with tourists. I have a special attachment to the area since I've been going there forever.

"Nights in Alacati"

Summer is full of bar, restaurant crowd. I prefer not to visit in summer. Starting from September the streets are all yours. What's better than a fish meal at Port followed by coffee and deserts at Kose Kahve. Then you can take a stroll on empty streets before going home.

Alacati is cold and very green in winter. Stray dogs are everywhere looking for food. Lucky for them, people started feeding them more in recent years. You can see our stray dog in her little hut. R.I.P.

Meltem Hotel excellence & affordable all in ONE!!!

"Perfect location for all activities"

The hotel was a family run business that offered the best of both worlds. It was located in a beautiful rural setting, just 1 km from the windsurfing and public beach and only 2 km from the night life in Alacati. But, what I enjoyed most was the best customer service I have found in Alacati. The staff catered to my every need always available and with a smile but, also gave me the peace an quite I wanted too.

"My room had everything and what a view!!"

My room was spacious ,comfortable ,with a full private bathroom and had a beautiful waterview balcony. It gave me a outstanding spot to sit, relax, and enjoy the bay and windsufers. Every modern amenity with the latest technology was included in my room.

"The pool and restaurant"

The food was delicious. I have never seen such a vast selection offered at a buffet breakfast that is included wit theroom rate. All types of local home grown fruits, vegetables, jams, and pies were part of the daily choices. After a day of windsuing it was great to come back to the hotel and I enjoy and evening swim and relaxing moment in the jacuzzi.
