    Overall I had a great time at Selcuk and Ephesus. Part of the fun was this wonderful hotel I spent two nights in. The hotel was very well located if you want to visit the other sites in Selcuk other than the Ephesus site. It is actually across the street from the Isa Bey Camii and just a short walk from the St. John Basilica. The staff here was very helpful and English speaking. In fact the owner, whom I shared a waterpipe with, used to live in Sydney, Australia. He also owns a great motorcycle which he will happily show you pictures of. The only I problem I might have had with the hotel is that it was rather cold here at night.

    The hotel has a great restaurant and bar. I found that it was a good spot to have a beer after I toured the local attractions. There is also paid internet service available.

    Selcuk was our home base for this region. We stayed at the Barim Pension and paid US$16. We had a clean place to sleep with a full bathroom and a traditional Turkish breakfast for two. For more information see my Selcuk page.

    Derya pension, which comprises 10 rooms and 25 beds has been serving for 15years. Hot water for 24 hours and central heating system in the winter are also available in our pension.

    Breakfast and dinner are served on the terrace where you can enjoy the excellent view of the Selcuk Castle and the ruins of Saint John Church.

    Edal&Nazmi run the Hotel Bella in Selcuk. They gave complimentary transportation to Ephesus, Sirence, and other places. This is one of the least expensive, most enjoyable hotels I have stayed in. The atmosphere is family. Edal & Nazmi also run a carpet shop and can tell you how to recognize real, handmade carpets from fake that are becoming more prevalent. The hotel is opposite the Saint Jean Basilica in the quiet town of Selcuk where you can have a Turkish bath or find a good pastry store and bank. It is 2 miles or less from Ephesus and they arranged private tours for me to Didyma, Miletos, Pirene and Pergamon. They also picked me up at the Izmir airport (for a fee). Do not stay in Izmir! It is to big, crowded and not much to see. A simple complimentary breakfast is included and you can also get dinner in their casual atmosphere.

    Friendly, locally run atmosphere where you eat sitting on low couches around tables. A water pipe is smoked by some. Great atmosphere, location, value and very relaxed. These are really nice, accommodating people who run the hotel. No TV in rooms. Great! Rooms have a private shower and some have balconys. You should request a balcony.
