by tazeenfarid

can anyone answer? how far is izmir from istanbul and r direct buses available? how much time it will take?

Re: distance and bus / road travel time from Izmir to istanbul

There are about 40 or more departures from Izmir to Istanbul between different companies. They operate 24/7. The trip will take about 6-8 hours depending the route you choose. Some buses connect to the ferries in different points thus making the trip shorter. Price will be around 40-70 TRY. For your information air fare is almost the same for an one hour flight.

You will come across 99.9999% of people in Selcuk who will not wish to rip you off and will be quite pleasant people. Selcuk is a small friendly town that goes about it's normal business not a busy town but quite laid back atmosphere. People will not treat you as aliens but the one thing you must remember men shouldn't walk around without tops (naked from top) in Selcuk and other towns the locals don't make an issue but some do find it offensive.

Tire: Apollo Faced Marsyas and...?

by Pinat

Tire, a pretty town 80 km. from Izmir center is the place where Apollo, the god of music and poetry faced the shepherd Marsyas. He asked Marsyas for a music competition. If you feel like learning the results, then you should visit my Tire pages:)

Of course Tire is not only mythology. It is one of the distinct towns of Izmir because of its very own cuisine, country-famous Tuesday market, the game of karambol, its dying arts like rope making, and many more. If you have time to go and feel like learning about the details of what I have just mentioned, here is the link to my Tire pages.
