well, we (spanky and i) stayed here our first several days here while i went flat-hunting. the staff was very professional and accomodating. although a little pricey it was nice to go to the gym to work out, lay out by the pool to relax or go to the spa to get a massage. We picked this hotel because it was easy to get in and out of by car and it was close to the water. It was cheap and the rooms ok but nothing fancy. They must have had large groups of tours coming and going. A large hotel with just ok rooms. The hotel is located on a big road. That is not a pro, but of course on the other side of the street you get direct into the bazaar. Only five minutes walk to the Kordon with all the restaurants and the other way only a step to the clock tower. Best is to get a room with refrigerator, not every room has one. Kahvalti is tomatoes, sheep cheese, olives, gurken (dont know in english), water melon, bread, coffee or tea. Everything u need to get an authentic Turkey feeling. Rooms have national TV channels. But the best is the view over the city with its lots of mosques and on the other side u have a short view to the bay. Shower and room is clean and what more will u expect for 20 Millions a night (in august)? Perfect! People at the lobby are friendly and will help u as much as they can. Tel on the room. I recommend this hotel because it's a nice 4 star for the money. It's in a great location. One tip: try to get a room on a top floor with a sea view. One side overlooks a busy street, the other side has balconies and looks west to the sea. I stayed at the Hilton for 2 nights. The nice part is that it's the tallest building in the city, so you get the views. I was on the 18th floor, so the view was great. Also, the room had windows facing 2 directions -- so I had a sea view as well as a view of the city. I don't know if all the rooms have this, but it was a good idea. The hotel itself is a little run down; it could do with a renovation. We had some yellow carpet in the room with some stains. The staff is very helpful and customer service savvy though. I checked out the gym and the pool, both were acceptable but not exceptional if you know what I mean. The tennis court on the 10th floor is pretty cool, but it gets pretty windy up there! Breakfast was good. The restaurant, called Windows on the Bay, is very expensive. I was once in Paris on New Year's Eve and didn't pay as much for a drink as I did at this hotel. My Pina Colada was 28 YTL (about 14 Euro!!!) -- it was good though. All in all, it's a nice place to stay, but probably too pricey for what you get. We found this hotel trhough the internet. Almost every body was happy about this hotel and now we are also one of them. It was really really a good hotel to stay.
Located at the heart of city, 2 min walking from metro station and 10 min walking from main shopping centers in Izmir is not the only positive thing about this hotel.
it was a very clean hotel with very friendly staff. from outside it does not look to be that good but as you enter the lobby, it is like you are in a new world.
if you are planing to have a nice accomodation in Izmir and you are not looking for the name of 5 star hotels and swimming pool is not important for you, i think it is a waste of money of you stay somewhere else.
