Prices in Izmir

by jettman1

Hello...

Can anyone tell me what the cost is of some items just to give me an idea of it's prices in T. Lira?

For example, how much is a can of coke or how much does a postcard cost in Lira please?

Are there souvenir stalls outside where the Library of Celsus is located? In case we need bottled water, how much do these cost at this area?

Thank you very much.

I don't have specific answers, but whenever I travel, I buy water from a nearby store or supermarket. In general, some supermarkets offer their own brand of water which is usually very economical. If I stay at a place for more than 1 day, I buy a pack of 6 bottles and keep them in my accomodation, this saves cost and energy with peace of mind.
Have a great time!

the library of celsius is in ephesus near selcuk an hour from izmir. if this is the library you mean, there are no vendors within the ephesus historic site. a group of them can be found at each entrance, more near the upper and preferred entrance.

O.5 L bottled water costs 0.40 or 0.50 kurush (100 kurush is 1 TL) Buy water from a supermarket before departure to Celcius.

1 L non alcholic drink costs 1.125 or 1.50 TL at supermarket and kiosks. There are many international and local non alcholic drings like, coca, schweps, 7 up, Fanta ect.
Post cards are O.50 TL
The price of the post changes according to the country.
Yes there are souvenir stalls at the enterence of the historical ruins of Ephesus. Celcius is inside.
Have a nice time
may you come smiling and return smiling

Cat tale

by evliyasems

Cat tale
One day Hodja bought three okes (an oke is 2.8 pounds) of meat and took it home to his wife. Then he returned to work. Immediately, his wife called her relatives and prepared a superb dinner. In the evening, Hodja returned for supper, and his wife offered him nothing but bread and onions. He turned to her and said,
- But why haven't you prepared anything from the meat?
- I rinsed the meat and was going to put it on the stove when this damn cat came up and took it away, she said.
Hodja at once ran to get the scales. Then he found the cat and weighed it. It was exactly three okes!
Then he turned to his wife and said,
- Look here! If what I have just weighed is the cat, then where's the meat? But if this is the meat, then where's the cat?

These ladies at Restaurant Ozlem are preparing gozleme, a flatbread filled with either cheese, potatoes, spinach or eggplant. I tried them all, of course, and they were excellent. This is a nice, light meal for lunch.
