Selcuks very best
As you walk into the Kalehan hotel you are greeted by Haken at reception and what a delight it is to see such a smiling and friendly face. After booking in you are taken to your room by the gem of the hotel, Mehmet. This man knows all and can help in any way that you need help. He mends shoes, arranges for car repairs, and doves for release at the Christian sites that abound around Selcuk. Please talk to Mehmet and learn that bit extra that will make your holiday stay so much more fulfilling.
I can highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Selcuk. I myself have stayed here for past 5 years and will be retruning again in 2007.
Looking objectivly and trying not to critisise the hotel as there is so little to fault it I can say that the menu does need revamping to take into account the numerous western guests that stay here. Let us see a beef steak and then this typical English Garden set in Turkey will be complete. 10 out of 10 to all the staff. This is not a typical cold impersonnel hotel. The owners Hakan and his lovely wife are always available in hotel and are easily approached for advice and help.
Unique Quality: Great pool and bar that is never hardly crowded so one can relax in 5 star comfort at 3 star prices.
Rooms are delibertly kept old in the Turkish style with lace and Turkish rugs and so cool and airy.
Sit in the garden and look up at the castle that is lit up at night to give you the best background for that precious photo of a memorable stay.
24 hour excellent service.
5 minutes from Ephesus/ St Johns and Virgin Marys tomb.
Market days at Selcuk are on Saturdays.
Transport arranged to all historic sites by hotel.

Charming Hotel Kalehan
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Kalehan. The hotel has a antique look and a beautiful garden and very friendly staff. Be sure to say hello to Attica by the pool.
Some of my best memories of Turkey are staying in Selcuk. It was nice to get away from very touristy areas and be a little closer to the Turkish people.
Avoid overbuilt Kusadasi and stay in Selcuk for a trip to Ephesus. Ephesus is a pleasant morning stroll away and you can beat the crowds.
