not exactly Parisian

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on June 13, 2015

We booked a double room in Selcuk for one night only. We looked for a budget option in the heart of the town and Paris hotel was excellent value for money (18e for double room in 2014)

Location
Hotel Paris is in the very center, 200m from the station station and less than 100m from the bus station (otogar) where we could get dolmus or taxi.

Building
It’s an old typical boring building with 24 rooms, a run down structures that need renovation.
The lobby and the breakfast room is at the ground floor

Service/staff
Staff was friendly but way to pushy owner with tour offerings (44euro pp for Ephesus, Mary’s house, Artemis temple, dinner buffet, starts at 9.00am and ends at 15:30) that we kindly skipped and did everything on our own for less money. He also insisted to stay longer.

Room
The room (304) was big, there were actually 4 single beds so no complain on this. WC/shower room was big too but very Spartan, a hole in the middle was the shower area :)

nice surprise they give one-use slippers. We didn’t expect to be very clean when we’ve read other reviews but it was ok.
We had a balcony over the street, not much noise but nothing interesting to see (there’s a parking lot at the corner)

Breakfast
It was included but we woke up early and didn’t try it (it’s basic anyway). There’s also a supermarket near by for some basic supplies so took advantage of that the previous night.
By the way there are many restaurant options nearby.

Directions: 100m from Otogar, 200m from railway station

The Friendliest Staff

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on April 10, 2008

This hotel has some hostel-style rooms, as well as rooms with only one double bed. Our room was small and clean, with a television, a balcony that looked out onto a neighboring building, and an in-suite bathroom. The shower isn't really a shower - just a spigot coming out of the wall over toilet, but it does the job. Our room had a small table and two chairs, and an air conditioner/heating unit in the wall. It was cozy enough for the price.

The owners of the hotel, an Australian woman and her Turkish husband, are incredibly nice and will make sure you are well taken care of. We chatted with them several times, and you will see them hanging around in the lobby area where there are computers, television and couches for the guests.

Use of the computer was only a few cents, and you may be served complimentary tea while you send emails home. They do offer meals there, the breakfast is good enough but I'd suggest having dinner elsewhere as their dinners aren't that great and they're a bit expensive.

The hotel does offer tours. We used them to book tours to Ephesus, the Virgin Mary House and the Seven Sleepers. They have multiple tours to choose from for what appeared to be average prices.

The location is perfect - only a few minutes away from the bus station. Saturdays is Selcuk's market day and when you step outside from the hotel you will be right in the middle of the market. If you decide to visit Selcuk, definitely plan to be there on a Saturday. The market is an experience not to be missed.

Directions: The hotel will pick you up from the airport (about an hour's ride). If you come in by bus, the hotel is only about a five minute from the station.
