The Silk-road Experience

Built by the Efendis in 1645, the hotel used to be a caravanserai - remember the silk road, China to Anatolia. A stop-over for tradesmen to rest.

Became operational as a hotel in 2004, located at the very senter of the old district (Carsi).

You will never miss this with it's massive structure, visible when you're above the hills.

It has a fountain in the middle of the courtyard.

Everyone is welcome to get in and check it out for its historical relevance, even if you are not checking-in.

open since sept. 2004,an authentic caravanserai

strong architecture;built in 1640.
rooms are on two stores around main courtyard.
we don't spend the night in this setting of picture, because we didn't know its existence as hotel.
we enjoyed a good dinner, near the pretty fountain of the courtyard.

by June.b

At the center of the town, near the Cinci Han Hotel (Caravanserai). This is the biggest mosque in Safranbolu, opened in 1661.

You will hear the adhan (call for prayer) from this mosque five times a day wherever you are in Carsi.

by traveloturc about Cinci Han

A little history about this place : Safranbolu Cinci Han which was established on the historical Silk Road leading from China to Anatolia Land. Cinci Han was built by Safranbolu notable Karabaszade Huseyin efendi in 1645. Its architect is unknown, but it is supposed that it was built by Mimar Kasim who was one of the main architects in that period. The Cinci Han was used as Caravan serai until 20th century when the Silk Road began to lose its importance. During the 20th century Cinci Han was used as a warehouse in which tradesman stored their belongings. Towards the end of the 20th century Cinci Han lost this feature. Its expropriation was completed by the government between 1984-1987. Following a series of varying enterprises, its restoration was completed by DKB A.S. and began successful Tourism Activities, becoming the Cinci Han Hotel- in 23 April 2004.Now you can enjoy the local food in this caravan serai ( palace ).Fantastic atmosphere to eat ))) local borek
