no money? no WC!
We are going to Bodrum in June and would like to take a trip to Kos.
What is the cigarette allowance from Greece to Turkey as when we went from Rhodes to Marmaris last year we were only allowed 40 fags back (neither use nor ornament). We thought we would have been able to at least bring back our 200 allowance as per EU rules ? Everyone on boat complained - even the reps who took us....
I think you'll find the allowance for sensible people who appreciate life and those around them- is zero .

You mention EU rules but that only applies between EU countries and Turkey isn't in the EU!! Turkish customs allows free import by all passengers of 1. 200 cigarettes and 50 cigars or 200 grammes of tobacco and 200 cigarette papers or 50 grammes chewing tobacco or 200 grammes of pipe tobacco or 200 grammes of snuff tobacco (in addition it is possible to purchase 400 cigarettes, 100 cigars and 500 grammes of pipe tobacco from the Turkish duty free shops on entering the country).

Do not forget to discover the glorious past of Bodrum. Today only a few monument remained. But you can organize mini tours to Catle of St. Peter, Myndos Gate and Ancient Theater. Especialy looking to Bodrum from Ancient Theatre is considered as a classic... Its unique architecture and warm people. I can never find an atmosphere like that.
Something that any newcomer to Turkey willhave to get ysed to very quickly is the methods used by shopkeepers, bar servers and restaurant waiting staff to convince you to come to their establishment.
It is common for the staff to be standing outside trying to entice you in with flattering comments, charm offensive and occassionally in your face tactics that can be quite unnerving to the tourist. It can be overwhelming and in busy parts of Bodrum, incessant.
Some of these people are only paid if they get people into these businesses but do not let this pressure you - if you want to read a menu, do and then either go in because you like what's on offer. If the staff are bothering you then be polite and firm in your insistence that you are only looking and actually intend to eat/drink/shop elsewhere. Often if you tell them you will try them later in the holiday this is enough to get them focussing on another customer. Try not to lose your temper :-)
You can not believe how beatiful a nigth with a huge catamaran on the see dancing , it really big i guess for 3 thousand people and really good dj s and mc s there.quiet expencive but better then all. Nothing special but just go if you are in the really party mood...
Like everywhere in Turkey you can use Dolmush, a minivan that takes you everywhere around the city (not long distances). They are slow and sometimes they wait to get full of people but you can hop on/off everywhere. Just pay attention to sign in front to see the final destination. Then get inside and pass the money to the one in front of you.
Of course there are many taxis everywhere. You will find many of them in the bus station waiting for you. The prices of the taxis in Turkey are cheaper than in Europe but it will be nice to ask tthe driver about your final destination and how much will cost you more or less.
This is a restaurant & cafe chain. In the Bodrum harbour. Very central. Nice atmosphere. Open all the year around.Various dishes.Some of them are quite tasty. There is a branch in Turgutreis as well.
