More about Bella Casa Hotel
not very good
Well me and my Fiancee have just returned from 1 week in gumbet.
I have to say we had a fantastic time in gumbet at night, great bars excellent food and the locals in the bars such friendly people.
however, we stayed at the bellacasa hotel, yes we got in the cheap but if you look at the hotels pictures a facilities on the tour operaters site it looks excellent, 4 STAR HOTEL (my a**e)
i would rate this as lower end of a 2 star hotel.
we arrived at 4 in the morning as our flight was delayed.
got to reception and checked in.
There was nothing there nott even a drinks machine we was both gasping for a drink but nothing.
We then got showed to our room, my god what a walk, we was in the 4oo level down about 100 steps to get to it, the hotel goes ffrom 100 to 600 level, 100 at the top, 600 at the bottom.
so after getting to our room whish was very small but clean, we asked about the air conditioning, the room was red hot and we was sweating, they put it us on but didnt cool the room down much.
We was needing a drink so back to up to reception, to be told we could get a drink at the bar, it wasnt open but somebody could get us something, we walked all the way down to the bar, about 200 steps there was a guy who gave us a glass of water so at least we got something.
the next morning we got up and went to the pool.
not very big at all and all the sun loungers where taken.
we had a drink which is very limited, i drink beer (not very good, the local beer is good in turkey tho) my girlfriend drinks wine but it was horrible, so i asked for a malibu, now in spain if you ask for malibu they give you a local alternative, here they didnt have anything and wanted extra for it..
We decided to go to the beech, word of warning its a long way down and in 40oc heat its a killer. a good 2 minute walk goingg down coming back up a good 10 minute hass you have to stop to take your breath.
You have to pay for your drinks down there too.
We had something to eat in the hotel, if you like rice and bread you are on to a winner, nothing much aat all in the food side.
No entertainment at night either so we was in gumbet everynight.
Our air condition in our room broke with 2 days to go, they didnt make an attempt to fix it.
we was glad to leave the hotel but not gumbet.
The plus side to this hotel are.
the breads nice
coca cola a juices are nice
the bus to gumbet for 90p outside hotel.
the turkish bath, was excellent 18 pounds fir it but well worth it.
rooms small and hot, no mini bar as it says just a broken fridge.
steps to and from hotel beach and bar.
beach to far down hill.
so my final point, if you dont care where you stop and are full of energy go to this hotel.
if you want a nic e hotel with nice food and drink, go some where else and pay the extra bit
hope this helps
We booked a two week all inclusive holiday at the bella casa hotel. Having read the reviews before hand i got very worried, as we booked it 8 weeks before we came.
We decided to go for it anyway as we go to turkey and the gumbet/bodrum peninsula was very familiar to us.
What a mistake that was!
please when reading these reviews, they are not made up! seriously! Bella casa is Hella casa
the room was a match box, holes in the walls with wires hanging out of them! the place was dirty as we never had clean sheets, and always had to ask for clean towels!
The food wasnt too bad, but was the same over and over again.
third day we got there we got told by one of the staff that the hotel was closing on the 15th and we were booked untill the 19th!
Great choice holidays! huh! bad choice more like!
we didnt know this at the time of the booking!
How can you book an all inclusive hoilday for two weeks and then have to change hotels four days before you go home!
we wanted to change straight away but wanted more money of us! we fought this over there with great choice, and lost four days of our holiday
We stayed at the BellaCasa Gumbet at the beginning of July , we were very apprehensive after reading the reviews, but decided to make the best of it and enjoy the sun anyway.
Our room was cleaned daily, the staff throughout our stay were friendly and helpful, the food was plentiful although a bit monotonous, the pool was clean, the pool area was hosed down daily and excess water swept away almost hourly, we had a great time and thought it was good value for the amount we paid (£250each AI ) we would not hesitate to go back.
On the downside, yes those steps! Killers they are, they should provide Oxygen on each level , also the flooring around the pool was not in the best of condition , uneven and damaged in places, and yes you need to get a towel on the sunbed early to stake your claim. These negatives apart we loved it.
Got its act together
Just returned (8th July) with my wife and 10&12yr old grandchildren from Bellacassa Hotel.
Was extremely worried at reviews prior to going!
What we found was entirely different. Accomodation was good and cleaned daily. Food was plentiful and had something for everybody though did not vary much over the week. Drink was also plentiful - if lager, g&t and red wine your thing was excellent! Pool and surrounds were excellent - though need to get towels on loungers 8.30am to get shaded areas.
No organised entertainment but we found all the kids around seemed to have fun playing table tennis and pool. Ours were not bored throughout the week.
Staff were brilliant - friendly & helpful. Tips much appreciated.
Did not encounter any health problems nor did we hear of any with other guests.
In short would deffinately go again.
Bodrum airport though is the most expensive airport we have been to £3.60 for can of coke! Take your own with you as not removed when going through to departures.
You get what you pay for
When we looked at the website for this hotel we were looking forward to staying in a 4* classy hotel. This was not what we arrived to. We stayed at the bellacasa in july, we arrived on friday afternoon (2 adults and 3 children) we booked in to reception and were taken to our room. To our amazement we were given a twin room. Obviously we complained immediately as even they couldn't expect 5 of us to sleep in two single beds. The manager was very nice and said that there had been a problem with the family room. He gave us a second room to use for the night and assured us that we would be moved the next day to a family room. As promised, we were moved the next day, and to our surprise, we were allocated a suite. The room was huge, with huge balcony and spectacular view. We even had a jacuzzi in the bathroom. The food was not to everyone's taste but there was always something to eat even if just salad and fruit. Some of the deserts were absolutely gorgeous. The food during the day at the pool bar was also lovely, burger and chips and pizza type food freshly made on the stove. There are heaps of steps so anyone with mobility problems would have serious problems. The staff were very nice and i wouldn't believe what other people have said about them being rude as any problems that we had were resolved very quickly and to our great satisfaction. The entertainment was not great, althought there was a childrens disco most evenings and adult entertainment some nights. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the bellacasa, but doubt very much if we would go back, if for no other reason, because of the amount of steps, although the manager told us that they were installing a lift within the next two years. We have stayed in much nicer places but not for the price that we paid to stay here. The bellacasa is a cheap place to stay and you cannot expect 5* quality when you are paying the price of a 2*. If you are looking for a quiet, lazy holiday and are not too fussy or snobby, you will enjoy your stay at this hotel.
If you are booked here please cancel
My wife and i have just returned from one week in the worst hotel we have stayed in during our 20 years of marriage but i will try not to bore you so here are just a few bullit points
Pool area filthy and dangerous to walk around
Poolside bar smelt awfull and often ran out of the cheap drink
Glasses filthy along with storage area
Hotel room tiny, dark poor lighting no balcolny leaking shower broken flush leaking air-con dwarf wardrobe with no hangers filthy carpet
Most staff looked like their clothes and themselves had not seen soap and water this season
and finally on the 5th day of a seven day break my wife got a severe stomache bug
i could possibly go on but all i can say is that i wish i was more aware of this site prior to me going even though it was only a last minute thing i would have changed PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE CHANGE YOUR'E HOTEL
A great hotel for the money undeserving of the bad press
My wife and I have just returned from a two week holiday in this hotel. I have never felt compelled to write a review before but my wife read the reviews on this site before we went and she was genuinely worried. I am quite annoyed that the opinionated views of the minority nearly made us change our destination - we would have missed out on a charming hotel with lots of character.
Overall, as I'm sure most people are aware, it is clear to see that the hotel is only in its first season under this name. The staff seem to be constantly changing their practices in order to engineer a system that works. This obviously means that things are not necessarily perfect to begin with, but they are trying - and, for the most part, succeeding.
Yes, there are a lot of steps - if you have walking issues such as a bad hip, you may experience problems. The hotel itself is situated on the top of a hill that runs down to the beach. If you know this in advance from reading the reviews then at least you are forewarned. As we said, it makes you feel less guilty about the food and drink you consume during your stay!
On the subject of food, the quality and quantity is excellent. When you consider the amount you pay for your holiday, and what proportion of that is the flight and taxes, what they manage to supply is truly amazing. We stayed AI and this includes drinks. The local beer is quite nice, some reports on here describe it as watered down but you know what? Its free! If it bothers you, get two when you go to the bar! Additionally you can have wine and local spirits. Its not a great selection, BUT IT IS ALL YOU CAN DRINK AND ITS AT NO EXTRA COST. There really is no scope for complaints. The food offered is of local origin, and therefore not english, or even international, cuisine. You are in Turkey, you will be offered a Turkish breakfast. Lunch and Dinner include two salad bars containing vast amounts of fresh salad ingredients as well as hot local casseroles, pasta and rice. Every few days they put on a BBQ or Kebab option which was always delicious. Mid-afternoon, they would put on a snack bar with either burgers & chips or more often Pide, a Turkish pizza-type-thing with varying toppings on a day to day basis. I love this and wish I could get it back home!
My strongest bugbear against the reorts on the website, is the those against the staff. These would seem to be the hardest working people I have ever met. The same people are to be seen at breakfast (0730-1100), lunch (1230-1400) and dinner (1930-2130). It is true that their overall mastery of English is fairly low, but the onus IS ON THE TRAVELLER. YOU are in THEIR country. Buy a phrase book and try - just with hello and please and thank you - they'll love you for it. I can by no means speak Turkish, but I tried, and they helped me, and we were all happy.
My one problem with the place - and probably the only reason I have not given it 5 stars, is the music by the pool. I understand that the staff might want to listen to it while they work, or that it is offered to entertain the customers. It is local, Turkish modern music - and I can accept this too. My problem with it is the volume - it is opressive and relentless. If they just turned it down a bit everyone would be happier.
To summarise, I travel a lot, all over the world for business. This hotel gives you exactly what you pay for. Very clean lodgings, good fresh local food, and a place to chill out, enjoy the sun and have a swim. The complaints are made by people who seem to expect too much given what they had paid
Go! Enjoy yourself! If you want luxury AI, then pay for it!
it was ok........
Well where do i start...........!!!! my mum and i have just come back from a weeks hols at this place, first thing when we arrived we asked for a "safe", they said no lady we will give to you tomorrow?!?!?! so thought ok lets get on with it as it was 5 in the morning, we had a guy help us with our suitcase to where he dropped us off at our room........... well what can i say it had one double bed!,the wardrobe looked like a coffin the tele was on a broken unit ready to fall to pieces and the bathroom was flithy,we just thought get to sleep and first thing in morning change rooms, well if only we could get to sleep!!! the room tempertaure was about -10 degress we were both shaking!!! it was that cold??? we still do not no why to this day!!!!
so next day we went up very politely and asked for a new room as we werent going to share a bed all week, they said yes yes come back afternoon, later on no no come back later,in the end we had to be assertive and demanded a room. In the end they bought us down to a nice clean room but again had a double bed so yet again we had to moan and they said that they had no more rooms left and that they were fully booked......... so we demanded a matress as we just wanted to get to bed we finally got one about 11 at night, so it had practilly wasted 2 days!!! my mum slept in the double bed and i slept on a crappy matress.what i have learnt with the turk's its no point be nicey nicey you have to be assertive if you ever want to get anywhere.
anyway moving on to food - brillant ........for the germans, cheese, salmi and salad for breakfast and lunch - yuck, dinner was salad again and grey chicken and more salad there was NOTHING for children which i felt sorry for as most familys had to go out and eat.One night they had put chips out and they had gone within 2 mins!!!! we went out most nights and had omlette and chips!!! which was the best!!!! but i have to say the waiters work VERY hard they start at 7am have about 3 hours off in afternoon then work till midnight so some of them were very moody but who blames them!!!! and there is a lovely and pretty hot photographer !!!! he is great he takes wonderful pics at sunset and the pics are brillant quality - so make sure you get one!!!!
the beach i have to say was lovely yes no sand but the sea is clean and fishes swim under you and its a gorgeous view.
there are lots and lots of watersports if you like aswell.
the location of the place is very village like there was NO entertainment during day or evening, even in the other hotels surrounding you.we just had dodgey music playing by the pool in afternoons that stopped half way through EVERY song and kept jumping and repeating,we practically went out everynight on the bus to gumbet town which runs 24/7 where most people went to from our hotel - the shopping is very good but by day 3 the people were driving us mad they just wouldnt let you look without being pestered by them - special price i give you!!! in the end we pretended we were german and ignored them and pretended we didnt understand them!!!!! there are lots of bars and clubs in the town which get busy around 10.
On the last night we had a great time with different groups of people staying there and they said they would never come back due to location the best place to go is ANTALYA or MARMAIS - can't spell!!!! the alchol there was ok the beer i thought was okay until the last night when we stayed up talking to others till 4am and realised that i had about 8 beers 3 vodkas and 2 red wines and felt fine!!?!?!?! NOT EVEN ATALL TIPSY!! and this is coming from someone that rarely drinks, it was ridicusly watered down but am glad we paid for all inclusive as the drinks werent cheap to buy a beer was about £2 and a 3 course meal is sooooo not about £7 its about £12 and teas and coffess about £3
I think i will go back to Turkey in the future as the weather was lovely and the some of the turkish people were nice but defently not there and alot of people are saying the same thing overall i will givbe it 6/10.
Having read reviews prior to departure, We were sceptical, but we called the agents who we booked through, and were assured that these reviews are generally made by people who have an axe to grind, so we thought ok, we will give it a go. On arriving we were greeted at reception, the staff were helpful, and we were quickly checked in. We had read reviews about the steps, and were expecting them. The steps are not as bad as the reviews read, but there are lots and lots, but with plenty of flat walkways between each new flight allowing you to get your breath back. On arriving at the room the shock that awaited us made all my fears come true.
The room was a dingy angular room with a bed, TV, and a waredrobe. The bathroom had a dirty toliet in the corner a V shaped shower area, the curtain was hanging off and a wash basin area. Ok so yes it was cheap, but the smell was unbarable, I know that the drainage system is not the same as we are fortunate to have here in the UK. But it filled the room and was unescapable. The shower area and tiles were grubby, let alone the minibar as advertised which was missing.
Shear exhaustion from the delayed flights made us sleep for a few hours on the first night, but the next morning things got worse.
We went down for breakfast, and was greeted by breadrolls and cheese, along with many other dishes, the only problem was they were accompanied with flies, every plate had flies crawling over the food, no covers to keep them out, just left to be fed upon. There were several cold drink dispensers available to use, if you dont mind sharing the tray with a family of ants.
We returned to the room after eating one of the breadrolls from the bottom of the pile and a piece of cheese, my partner declined the offer, to find they had hosed down the outside areas, this is to keep the ground cool, and to clean away dust etc. The problem was the water had leaked into our room and had soaked our cases, If i had known prior we would have left the cases on the bed, as we did not expect the water to come into the room.
As previously mentioned we were expecting the steps, so that was not a great concern, and as i have said yes they are hard work especially in the heat, but we went down to the beach area, On returning we decided we would have a drink. On asking for a drink, the waiter could find no clean glasses, so found some on a nearby table, rinsed, well sort of rinsed them under a tap and poured 2 lagers.
We took the lagers and washed the glasses ourselves, them went back and ordered 2 more,
90 minutes after breakfast, i was feeling sickly, which quickly turned into violent vomitting, stomach ache, and sweating, which continued until i disposed of the breakfast, and lasted the rest of the afternoon, at which point i knew we had to get out.
We checked out on the second night, as we checked out 2 men coveredin sweat were asking if there airconditioning had been fixed the reply was no. They asked to be moved as it was too hot but were told they couldnt,
Previous reviews have mentioned the lack of English, and yes we are in Turkey and Turkish is the national laungage, but the level of English displayed at the hotel by the staff was as follows:
On trying to engage in a conversation with a waiter, he replied I not speak English, this theme was continued across the staff, Yes we are in Turkey, but a tourist area and basic English i feel is an essential tool to help people enjoy a holiday, or maybe that is just me being over demanding.
We moved into an apartment and enjoyed the rest of the holiday, I would highly recconmend Turkey, but if you want to enjoy all that Turkey has to offer please read this and the other reviews on this hotel and choose wisley.
was a good 1!
