More about Club Mira Luna
we got back from the mira luna on the 26th of september 2008. i can not really moan about the rooms, they were clean and comfortable. the staff was a different matter, all the holidays ive had i have never meet such unhappy and unhelpfull staff and that includes the manager. and as for the food, i would not have feed it to my dog, its ok if you like cold chips every lunch and dinner time, cold tasteless pasta and salad. i saw the chips being put out for dinner nearly every night about 19.40 and the resturant was not open till 20.00. my son was really ill while out there from a bad belly and ended up in hospital over night on a drip followed by a 7 day course of antibiotics ( we only ate there for the 1st week till my son got ill, it dont say alot about the food). while talking to other holiday makers in the mira luna on my last day i heard about anothe 3 people in bed ill at the hotel. i will not be going back or telling anyone eles to go there.
Worst Holiday Ever!
We stayed at the Mira Luna in September 2008. On arrival it looked great, it had a nice pool and location near the beach. The compact rooms measured 9ft 5ins x 10ft 7ins but they were cleaned daily. The food though was horrendous! Much of it leftover from lunch was served in the evening - cold chips, lukewarm meat, etc. The restaurant was filthy and unhygienic. On the third day, our party of 6 started to go down one by one, with sickness and diarrhoea and no wonder. One of our party ended up in hospital overnight as did an elderly couple we got friendly with. I felt sorry for the poor rep who had in his hand a sheaf of 22 sheets of paper - all of complaints he told us - he left the company soon after that. Oh and if you pay for a safety deposit box make sure you get a receipt! We paid 4 lire per day for each of the 3 rooms we had. After the first week we were upgraded to another hotel due to the health problems and we got a refund of the safety deposit box of guess what? 3 lire per day!!
Enjoyed it...to a point
The Mira Luna, where do i start? We arrived at 3am in the morning 14th Sept, this is when airlines had gone bust. We goes up to the reception and he told us that our holiday has been cancelled, imagine that after you'd travelled all friggin' day long. I personally thought he was joking but he wasn't. My mom had to pay for a weeks stay on her credit card and was hoping that the insurance would pay out. The next day we go to reception, its a different person this time and he tells us the exact opposite that our stay hadn't been cancelled because who we had booked with had not gone bust...yeaah not very good first impression!!
The hotel itself is really nice. The pool is nice too, plenty of sunbeds, don't need to rush down like some places a 6am. It is pretty slippy though, i don't know how many times i did, nearly landing on my butt. Music is played around the pool as well, lots of turkish songs. Do not ask for a CD of the playlist though, 30lira haha couldn't believe it when my mom told me. There are two slides as well, games are played in the pool too. Like this surfboard game, you have to balance on the board and skip with a skipping rope at the same time, not as easy as it looks. I didn't try it though even if they did try to grab me to go on it.
Our hotel room, was clean and was really small!! It was smaller than my bedroom at home. The problems we had with the room was the bathroom!! We didn;t have a shower curtain so you can imagine how much water went everywhere. Then the flush didn't work, someone came to look at it and then when he went i pushed the flush n it was broke again. The next day the same man came to fix it and took the whole flush pushy thing off so i was a tad confused about that one. Ohh and the toilet seat hadn't even been screwed on. The TV didn't work. The room was cleaned everyday, i liked the maid she tidyed all my stuff up for me :)
The food was amazing, if you like chips, pasta and salad! I am not a fan so i hardly ate much that holiday. It wasn't disgusting or anything but where was the pizza?? I know i'm in Turkey and shouldn't complain but come on. Chips was on all the time apart from our last night.
The hotel is just across from the beach but i'd say walk along for 10/15mins because it stinks. If you want to go to bar street its about 20mins walk depending which way you go. Girls if you have heels on, get a taxi, i wore heels everynight and my mom made me walk and my feet killed so i was dancing in the bars shoeless.
The best bars to go to are:
Atlantis bar, bottom of bar street, it's really lively in there, all the staff are amazing!! Umut and Carlos were the best there!! Carlos worked on the door and Umut behind the bar and he even got up and danced haha. All the staff get up on the wall and dance, watch out for the lad who does the bellydancing, hes great and dances better than the lasses.
Shamrock bar, just up from shakers and x bar, it's quieter than shakers and x bar but that doesn't mean its not good. The music is fantastic in there, i love it!! Muslih dishes out the free shots.
Corner bar, what a bar!! It was amazing in there, we wouldn't have gone there if it wasn't for our friend Apo working in there. So glad we went, had the best time. All the boys are excellent, always getting you up to dance and won't take no for an answer. They can move too. I absolutely loved it in there!!
And i don't think theres much else to say...
Mira Luna 2.5/5 (but probably will go there again next year as its pretty cheap, if you book through the hotel instead of through an agent its like £22 for a room as night which isn;t bad if you can get a cheap flight, fingers crossed)
A Lovely Holiday
Me and my boyfriend have just come back from an amazing holiday in Turkey. We booked with Cosmos and had complete peace of mind and great service. Good to know with airlines going bust! Ive been to turkey before and didnt think much to the hotel when we arrived at 4am! But a holiday is what you make it. The mira luna is a 3* resort and u get wat u pay for.
Pool - could be seen from the road which is not nice. anytime of the day we could always get sunbeds, in the shade or sun. it was never packed. mainly english there. pool is very clean, and a good size with nice steps. also a kids pool and a slide which only worked once while we were there. vollyball at 3pm everyday. loud music playing poolside all day, everyday, on repeat. but keeps u from falling asleep in the sun!!
Restaurant and food - there was one dining area poolside, always tables available however in the evening it was not well lit so u couldnt see wat your eating. and there was alwasys stray cats running around begging for food, very annoying. food was good compared to other all inclkusive. breakfast was egg, bread, cheese and hams. lunch and dinner were the same with chips and pasta, soup, bread, choice of 4 main meals such as stews, chicken, beef, veg dishes. salads, cold veg, sauces, dips. desserts were amusing!! always honey!! everything was dripping with honey!! also some sort of mousse which wasnt set and melon. overall - good if your not fussy. dont got to turkey if you expect english food! there was a snack bar tucked away behind the apartments which served chips and "pizza" for an hour a day. the other snack bar you had to pay.
Bar - you could only get 1 small drink a time. beer was best, vodka and gin filled almost whole glass with a drip of mixer in it!! wine was horrid, like vinegar. peach, cherry and orange juice. coke, fanta and sprite (not branded), availability was ok, almost always warm.
Rooms - we were given a twin room as there were no doubles with safes in, safe was expensive. the maid made the twin beds into a double for us which was nice. beds were hard but ok. room was soooo small. had 1 wardrobe, drawers, mirror, TV and a fridge which was crap. en suite ok. toilet broke once, always warm water. drains smelt really bad though. had a shared balcony with chair and table. used key to plug in room electric and air con, broke off the wall!! electric to our apartment block broke down one nite but was soo back up and running. air con made room nice and cool. no views though.
facilities - only had entertainment 2 nites - karaoke and bingo. the workers at the hotel were all nice and friendly. spoke good english. good hairdresser and beautician. turkish bath. market open 24 hours.
Location - cross a road to the beach which was small but long. not many sunbeds. 15 mins walk along the beach into town. good bars and restaurants. Columbia and red dragon good. Ardo the waffle man on beach is a legend! always get hassled by men selling flowers as "presents". be careful as they put bracelets on you and then charge. good range of shops in town. onyl 40 minutes from airport, 40 minutes to bodrum city which is a nice day out. boat trip is worth doing, we did ours through our rep.
Overall a hotel which is what u make it and u get what u pay for. But we would go back again and we will recommend it to our friends.
a holiday is what u make it !
neil & jane have just returned from a great holiday here ok we did arrive early hours and had booked a double room room and eventually the 4th room was a double....ok the rooms are not big but you only sleep and shower there the air con and fridge were great ,maids clean every day . the hotel is just across the road from the beach and 5 mins walk to all shops and bars the food does get boring but we went out for english breakfast next door at british run calypso bar very nice and had excellant t bone & fillet steaks at the mistral steak bar just a bit along the beach its up to you to make what your holiday is ...and when all inclusive finishes at 11pm the on site shop sells beers wine vodka etc which they let you drink on the premises we met some nice fun people phil & tracey from hull ,oolly from holland etc the staff are very pleasant though i did have a pedicure which i thought cost 15 ytl and she charged me 30ytl ! so put us off going to the salon again ....oh and dont forget to take bottles of water & cans of pop to bodrum airport they rip you off its £5 a can and food is expensive there too we would go again as the hotel is in a good position
Dont stay here at any cost worst place ever Faulty Towers has nothing on this pl
Where do I start the only 2 good things about this place was the location and the rooms were clean, the food was not fit for animals even the cats did not like it, there were 10-15 cats running round the dining room, what was on at lunch was re-heated for dinner, we complained along with everyone else but nothing was done. i went for a trim in the hairdressers on site and had to stop the girl as I could tell she was not a hair dresser
she had hacked my hair to bits, the drink was limited to Raki vodka beer or wine which was like vinegar there was no entertainment , as for the snack bar it was only open for an hour in the afternoon and only had chips
How they say this hotel was all inclusive is a joke and as for being 4* it does not rate a 2 *
The shower was always cold
We went for Turkish bath and massage it turned out to be the hairdresser and barman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read reviews and noticed so good ones so took the chance only to regret it do not stay here at any cost
this was our first all inclusive and probably our last. we did'nt know what to expect and when we arrived everything looked quite nice but looks can be deceiving. we ate at the restaurant on the first night there and everything seemed to be ok we had lunch the next day which wasnt quite so good and by tea-time that night our 12 year old daughter was being violently sick she is still ill now at home and we are waiting on test results to find out what she has. I also became ill and was in bed for two days. There was no form of entertainment for either the adults or the children and on the whole the staff just didnt seem to be bothered. This definately did not match the holiday we had booked.
arrives in afternoon 2 ad 2 children was given a small room place of room in corner behind respection no light came through. got moved. room better but rom with doulbe bed & 2 singels pushed to gethre no reoom to move. room are very clean beds got changed diley with towels. FOOD: never again will eat in this place family has nasty tummy bug,who got the the toilet first was lucky. resturant bad not clean, food being made outside in open on dirty tables or b-b-q stand which the cats do walk over and lick for food, cats are at your tables asking for food they know when itsfeding time they come out of the wood work, the cats tolets are the plant container were you eat yor meals. staff no uniforms so unable to say who is staff, the staff seam to job share you dont know who should be doing what, water in water cooler was from there taps and not bottled water as it should be. satff would use cups and glass for a drink and return cup or glass for some one elses to use with out cleaning them first. First time people going to Gumbet should not take this hotel as the norm in fact the hotel makes fauilty towers looks a great place to stay in.
Dont go there
This is not the same hotel as being shown on the internet site, we had cold food every meal time with very little choice ,we also had recycled food, ie what was left over one meal you got it the next. no snacks during the afternoon as stated. no entertainment and nothing for the children to do. only a choice of three drinks which were left out all day in the heat. 6 people were taken to hospital with sickness diarrhoea plus many others spent 2 or more days in their beds. Rooms were cleaned out every day which was good. The beach is stoney, but location was great. boat trips was very good,
hoilday from hell
this was not the hotel which was put on the website the photo;s were nothink like the hotel the rooms were clean and tidy but only one room and not two as we were lead to beleave the food was cold and the same everyday and some of us were very ill my friends and i would never go back
