More about Ev Bodrum

Yesil Ev Hotel

by SirRichard

Yesil Ev means 'The Green House', and the hotel is a most endearingly restored Ottoman mansion, superbly located between St. Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The location is unbeatable, and is a really charming hotel, though the commodities are not 'western'. You pay for the history.

Windsurfing in Bodrum Turkey?

by Jameswest1976

Hi im going to Bodrum in June and I hear there are several good places to go windsurfing, however I would really like to know which ones are the best? I know that Bitez was great during the 90s however is it still good? Also is there anywhere else along the coast that is any good. Grateful for all your comments.

Great place to go in June in Bodrum is Kadikalesi which is near to Turgutreis and Gumusluk. Great wind and direction, check out http://puretourism.co.uk/windsurfing. Another good location on the Bodrum penisular is Akyarlar/Fener beach, there is a great centre there as well and they do Kitesurfing as well! Both of these spots are mostly cross shore so wind is nice and clean.

Bitez is good although it is not as good as it used to be due to the amount of buildings they have in the area. I have never surfed in Yalikavak but I know sunsail used to operate there, so it must be ok.

Travel Tips for Bodrum

Haggle!!

by Lyndra

The art of shopping in Turkey involves haggling. It is briliant fun because if you come from Western Europe it is something we don't get to try! If you find something you want try not to be too enthusiastic about it - it will be harder to get the deal if they know you really want it. Offer half the asking price and never go higher than you are willing to pay (the shopkeeper will never sell at a loss so you will both win and have great fun doing it). Turkish shop keepers are charming and will try anything to convince you to buy. Don't be offended by their forward attitude - they do this to be friendly more than intimidating. If you say no thankyou there will be no offense taken and you will have had a nice chat.
Remember that a deal is sealed when you shake on it - it would be very rude to retract the offer once you have agreed the deal :-)

Friendly Restaurant

by Fen about Friendly Restaurant

The staff are very "friendly" here (no pun intended!) but they really were. The service and the food was excellent and its another restaurant in Turgutreis that i would recommend. My favourite dish was some meat which was wrapped up in cheese something else. I'll have to find out what the dish was called. :-)
