Centre of Bodrum
by Ekaterinburg
Apart from the castle and its museum, there's not a lot to see in the centre of Bodrum. The whole place is dominated by shopping streets and endless displays of souvenirs and fake designer clothes. These streets are very picturesque , many of them 'roofed' by thick growths of vine trailing from overhead supports, but shopping ( for me anyhow ) has a very limited appeal. There is a very laid back vibe though and little snacks of freshly squeezed orange juice and tasty bread rolls from street vendors, add to the enjoyment. The first day you come, you'll find this area charming , especially the little connecting squares, filled with bars and cafes but once is definitely enough for this side of the town. For further interest, carry on to the marina or break away from the pedestrianised area in search of something more stimulating.

by Erkmen
Just recently a brand new modern Marina has opened in T'Reis, which has a mouring capacity of 550 yachts and 100 drydocking capacity. D-Marin is the newest Marina in Turkiye.
D-Marin is in Turgutreis, around 20 km to Bodrum town center, 52 Km to Bodrum airport. For Yacht owners It is coordinates are 36° 59' 57" N, 27° 15' 23" E .. And nearby places, Kos Island 7nm, Bodrum 12nm, Marmaris 77 nm and Antalya 245 nm.
As the Marina is located on a coast line of 650 m. long in the middle of the town, the design is inevitably integrated in to the existing town settlement.. Inside the Marina there is a small shopping mall and a food court, where boat owners can supply most of their needs.
Torquoise and Silver Jewelry
by Ekaterinburg about Jeweller and Silversmith
I am not a big shopper and this was a rare impulse buy. In the outside display case of a jewelry shop in Gumbet, I spotted some torquoise rings. The one I asked about only cost 10 euro, so I finally got brave enough to actually go INTO a shop. Ths owner of the shop, a silversmith and a very pleasant man, brought a ring from the back of the shop and it was just what I wanted. I also bought a torquoise necklace on a silver chain. Torquoise and silver were especially good value here and alterations could be carried out while you waited. The jewelry here is really beautiful, good quality and the nicest I'd seen. For the ring and pendant , I spent about EUR 55. This was extremely good value and about half of what I could expect to pay for these items at home.
To Bodrum from Datca
by MalenaN
There is a ferry from Körmen (near Datca) to Bodrum at 9 am. You can buy the ticket from the ferry office in Datcha and they have a service bus, which will take you to the ferry, and it leaves Datca about 8.30.
The price was in July 2004 15 000 000 TL (ferry and service bus) and the boattrip to Bodrum harbour took about two hours.
On the ferry you can buy tea, coffee and soft drinks. A tea is 1 500 000 TL.
