hi we are going to bodrum in september how hot will it be then and is it easy to get boat trips for the day and how much are they its the first time in bodrum

by digby1

Hi, I was in Bodrum late Sept into mid Oct 3 years ago. It was warm reaching 80 degrees up till the last couple of days. You can book boat trips easily many places along the beach front as well as at your hotel. 3 years ago it worked out at approx £8 for a full day trip which was excellent value (lunch included) and a great trip. You can also get the ferry or hydrofoil over to Kos for a day trip. We went on the hydrofoil which was quick and cheap, unfortunatly I cant remember exactly how much it cost but would recommend it.

I was there in October 2005, I got a great tan. I managed to get some diving, the water temprature was 23 degrees C, the air temprature was 76.
I don't know about the price of boat trips, but the diving trips where very reasonably priced. If you are not travelling with a tour operator, find a hotel which offer tours, eg. boat trips, being from england we always look for hotels with english tour operators, ask if you can book with them. Normally they will be happy to take your money.

Happy hols Steve

Travel Tips for Bodrum

by erendilight

The voltage here in Bodrum is 220 volts. All electical appliances may be used here but of course as the pluds here are different i.e. 2 pin circular, then you will need a treveller adapter. Unlike Europe, most Turkish bathrooms have sockets and we advise caution when using these. From time to time power cuts may occur which unfortunately are out outt of our control but generally they do not last very long and normally power is quikly restored.

Step Away from The Bazaar

by Ekaterinburg

Shopping streets are fine but if you want to see something a little more interesting then step away from the Bazaar. A very easy way to do this is when you are returning to the bus station to simply change your route. Instead of going back up Cevat Sakir Cad, branch left and go up Turkkuyusu Cad. Passing the park and a small stretches of shops and offices things soon get refreshingly different. There are lots of private houses here, their small gardens filled with bouganvillea and other shrubs. You'll bump into children coming from school and women heading to and from the market to shop. At the top of Turkkuyusu Cad is a small whitewashed mosque that looks like it belongs in the middle of the countryside and indeed gardens and patches of waste ground around here do give the place a slightly a slightly rural look. At the mosque you turn right for the bus office but a small detour left on Turgutreis Caddesi and you will find some lovely old stone houses.

Also, on your way downtown from the bus office if you stay on the right hand side of the street, there are some interesting small streets with fruit and vegetable stalls and fish shops.

Turkey has a very different atmosphere and culture than England and its a real joy just to walk around the streets of Bodrum on a warm summer night, the aroma of the food and every shop trying to sell you something is quite special

To get to some of these regional Airports is terribly expensive, thus making your cheap flights not so cheap!
The cheapest way to get to Bodrum Airport from Bodrum, is to catch the Havas Bus from the Bodrum Otogar.
It is located on the inside of the Otogar, near where the Taxis are. There is a little Office, which probably will not be manned, but it has the Timetable written up for the week. They run in time for all Domestic flights.

Departure is 2 hours before flight departure times, and the journey takes approx 40mins. The only other pickup area is Torba Junction.
Turn up, pay the Driver, and you are on your way.

On the brochure it says "We provide shuttle services for the following airline's domestic destinations: Turkish airlines, Pegasus, Izair, Atlas Jet, Onur Air"

turkish bath

by bebechica

This was heaven! we had a turkish bath and really enjoyed it. you think your skin is clean enough untill you get scrubed down! the amount of dead skin that comes off you is amazing. Then you get the foam stuff! which felt so soft and luxurious on your skin. We also had an oil massage which was very relaxing. Before i came a lot of people told me not to have a turkish bath as it was seedy and you get groped! but im glad i didnt listen as it was not like that at all
