Respect For Atatürk
by Lyndra
Atatürk was the President of the Turkish Republic from 1923 until he died in 1938. He became known as Father of the Turks for the groundbreaking changes he made to Turkish life.
He created a modern secular government with education at its heart. Everyone in Turkey is free to worship the faith they choose without governmental interference. He was responsible for introducing the Latin alphabet and voting rights for women.
Atatürk is so widely thought of that it is highly offensive to make any negative comment about his reforms. There are statues and pictures if Atatürk all over Bodrum - including a large one by the marina of him on horseback. This tip is really to remind you to show respect to the memory and work of Atatürk.
Discover the most secluded bay and hotel in Bodrum
by eoztaylan
Paradise Bay in Bodrum,Turkey is one of the most amazing places I've ever visited. The geographical structure of the bay is very interesting, providing the most beautiful sceneries ever. The sea is very clear ,the color is turquoise blue and you can see all kinds of fish without a snorkel. It's so quiet and calm, and so refreshing. You can stay at the ony building in the bay,The Atami Hotel. It's a family run, small luxury hotel by the seaside with a very nice wooden jetty where you can sunbathe and swim. The owners of the hotel are very respectful to this beautiful environment. They planted lots of trees and greens in their garden to hide their property in nature and are recycling water, compositing garbage etc. Their service is very friendly and intimate and the food is marvellous, cookde by the Japanese hostess of the hotel. The bay and the hotel are definitely the right places for complete relaxing escape holidays. Their website is: www.atamihotel.com and tel:+90 252 357 74 17
Paradise Bay might be difficult to find if you don't know the way. Even residents of Bodrum might not know the place. To reach there, take the minibus to Golkoy from Bodrum central coach station and then take a taxi. To reach there by car, take the Torba junction before reaching Bodrum. Go to Golturkbuku village. Follow the signs of 'iberhotel', a very big holiday village near Golkoy, and half the way you come accross Atami Hotel's signs. Then just follow the Atami signs to reach the Paradise Bay.
Friendly Turkish Bar
by Lyndra about Lodos Bar
We went to this bar for the first time last summer and were really surprised by the lively atmosphere and great music. Lodos has had many incarnations but currently is decorated with modern poster art. There are 2 bars in Lodos - a large one on the way in and a smaller one out at the back where there are tables and tall stools and a smashing view of the sea.
This bar is very popular at different parts of the season and early in August there are many Turkish people using it. The music is generally Turkish but why go to Turkey if you don't want to listen to some local culture!! The bar staff do a table service so you don't even have to get up and go to the bar :-)

Well, I just thought I would stick my oar in here, this little sit in/ take out restaurant is the nicest kebab shop in Gumbet! From chicken kebabs, doner kebabs to salad wraps. This little place stays opens nearly 24 hours. It is the tinest little place with the best staff. Theres nothing better than going here for a kebab after a night on the town and strolling home with kebab in hand! My favourite dish from here would be a chicken kebab with rice and chips. yummmmy! :-)

It really was a must see! if you enjoy swimming in the sea this is for you! I dont! but the fella said the fish were amazing and he had a great time swimming in the diffrent coves, i had a great time looking at the stunning scenery and got sunburnt !! Even though i topped up on lotion everytime we stopped! the food was great, just one saftey tip! when you go to Karaada island and all the guys get off to do the 9metre dive.... remind them that theres sea urchins on the rocks and not to stand on them or you'll spend all nite picking dozens of stingers out of their toes, just remind them! there were english signs everywhere but they all did it!!
A truley brilliant day.
