Bodrum or Kusadasi ?

by mirceonel

Hello everybody!
We are a bunch of friends who are waiting for the summer to visit Turkey again.
Last year we stayed in Kusadasi, but we heard that Bodrum might be a better choice.
We would like to know how is the night life in Bodrum compared to Kusadasi, and the same about the beaches.
Not least, we would like to know if the prices are much bigger in Bodrum than in Kusadasi.
Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!

Bodrum wins! Fewer tourists than Marmaris or Kusadasi but developing a sophisticated visitor. NO more expensive than any turkish resort. Bodrum beaches are shingle and small but nearby Bardaci and Gumbet (or any of the local towns on the peninsula) offer nice beaches instead. Try Bodrum - you wil enjoy it! :-)

Travel Tips for Bodrum

Flag of Turkiye

by Lyndra

There are certain symbols of every nation that are held in great esteem - and are given a level of respect because of what they mean to the people.
The flag of Turkey (much like any national flag) is held in high regard. You will see it all over Bodrum flying from governmental institutions and shops alike. It would be hugely offensive and could possibly get you into a huge amount of trouble if you were to show disrespect to the flag - orally or physically.
Be mindful of the history behind the flag and the symbolism. The flag is red to remind the people of the massive blood shed during the end of the Ottoman period. The moon and stars represents the independence of Turkiye.

TURGUTREIS - Beaches

by balhannah

The Beaches are really nice here, and nowhere near as busy as nearby Bodrum. There are plenty of Sun lounges and Umbrellas available. Beautiful blue waters of the Agean sea to swim in, lounge around and enjoy the Island views, or stay later and see a lovely sunset!

Lively dancing hotspot!

by Lyndra about Central Bar, Gumbet

This was one of the most popular bars we went to in Gumbet and it is fairly easy to see why. It is conveniently located at the junction of 3 main roads in Gumbet and is easy to spot courtesy of a large neon sign. The bar is frequently so busy that there is hardly room to move (it can get really hot in there) but there is a seating area outdoors too. You can get drinks at the bar or there is a table service option - the bar can get quite busy so consider letting someone else do the work. Music is great here and there is a small dance floor to show some moves - people of a more exhibitionist nature like to climb on the bar and strut their stuff (don't sit too close to the bar if you are of a sensitive nature!!). The bar staff here are fairly stand offish, very flirty and expect to get tips which I found quite annoying as I always tip good service, but this is the only downside to a great bar for lovers of dance music. No dress code in the Central Bar

Restaurant Vittoria -> very stylish restaurant!!

by Innovator about Restaurant Vittoria

Great italian food and other stuff, watch the list in front of the restaurant.
We were served by 10 people! We thought the bill would be extremely high, but no rather cheap/average! Looks like a high-class restaurant, was a big surprise, so much service for this price! Superb experience! Would go back again!

THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE

by whitecliff62

As its been a few years since we have been to Bodrum, i don't know if the camel rides still operate or in fact if this bad smelling camel is still alive hehehehehehehe, but it was a great laugh and well worth the little money it cost to see my kids faces, and the horror on my wifes face hahahahahaha
