Day exursion Ephesus

by alectrevor

Are there any bus day trips from Bodrum to Ephesus in late February early March ?, if not could it be done by public bus services. Thanks.

You can realize the project with public busses

Re: Day exursion Ephesus

The network of local busses within Turkey is the best in the Mediterranean. For sure you can hop on one to the town (I believe it's Celcuk) on the main road close to Ephesus from Bodrum. It's about a four-hour ride but pleasant and comfortable not to mention very economical. Bring provisions on board. Once in Bodrum, go to the main bus terminal for schedule and buy a ticket ahead if you know for sure your itinerary. Happy trails.

I m also interested on day trips to Ephesus from Bodrum. So, is there a direct bus from Bodrum to Selcuk ? I would like to avoid changing 2 or 3 buses to go to my final destination...
How many hours is it?

Dear Elen
the answer is yes you can use any busses in the direction to Izmir and you can leave the bus in Selcuk (265 km from Bodrum) From selcuk you can use minibusses to reach ephesus or you can rent a taxi for ephesus and virgin mary if you want .

Travel Tips for Bodrum

Town Center of Bodrum

by Erkmen

Today Bodrum has everything that one would expect to find in a vacation getaway. It is an important tourist center in both winter and summer. Bodrum has something from the rich yacht owners to the penny-counting tourists...

The main sites on the town center is the Marina, the Bodrum castle and narrow tiny roads full of shops, cafes and etc.. And At nights, these streets are turning to be the most active nightlife ..

The white houses decorated with colorful flowers gives a real attraction to every visitor.. And just two meters under the narrow streets of Bodrum lies 5000 years of history.

Lets go off the beaten path

by jeeptrophy

Well there is so many untouched paths to see so where should I start. There are many ancient ruines all around Bodrum peninsula. Mostly hidden on the top of the mountains or valleys surrounded by the last forests where you will find ancient villages such as Sandyma, Pedesa and Kiril with overwhelming views. Or you can take the southern part along the Gokova bay and pass friendly villages, unspoiled paths along the sea, from Yaliciftlik all the way to Akbuk. There are many untouched bays along the route. Well if you need any info feel free to mail me because explaining them all would take several pages.

Local Bar, Lively Atmosphere

by Lyndra about Korfez Bar

Korfez Bar is a gem of a place hidden slightly back from the main shopping throughfare in Bodrum. The unique thing about this bar is the music - predominantly rock but also others, and the customers who are mostly young Turkish people enjoying a night out. It looks a bit intimidating when you first arrive as the side street is so full of people who have spilled out from the bar but don't be put off.
This bar is always busy and getting to the bar can be hard work, well worth the effort however. Drinks are priced as in other bars and are mostly beer and spirits with a small cocktail menu, it is a rock bar after all!! No dress code

Airline to avoid: ONUR AIR!!

by Lyndra

Two summers ago we were unfortunate to travel to Bodrum using Onur Air and I can say without contradiction that it was the worst flight experience of my life.
WE booked our holiday as a package to save money and ended up on this airline. From its late arrival to the airport (and our subsequent horror when we realised what airline our travel operator had so cleverly hidden from me!!), the way we were shunted on board into the smallest seats with minimal leg room, the first in flight meal that I couldn't even try as it looked and smelled so awful, the total disregard of customer needs by the cabin crew who were more worried about their make up than their jobs...
I could go on but you get the idea I think. The best part of the flight was when we reached stand at Bodrum airport and I knew I could get off. The worst part...knowing that 4 weeks later we had to return on the same airline.
This airline has an interesting record but I made a decision to never use this company again and that is always the first question I ask now.

On a hill between Bodrum and Gumbet there are 7, since 1970, abandoned windmills. It is really a pity that the people of Bodrum don't take care of those windmills. They should be landmarks but now they are disappearing little by little.

From the hill top you will have a wonderful view of the city of Bodrum and the bay of Gumbet.
