More about Litera Gumbet Beach Resort

Gumbet Beach

by Lyndra

The beach at Gumbet is a great escape from the frenzy of Bodrum Town and is only a short taxi ride (or Dolmus if you like) away.
The beach is of a good quality and has a range of watersports and activities available.
Many of the sun loungers are available but at a small cost (about 5YTL) but this is for the whole day. If you do not wish to purchase the time on sun beds you can just lounge on your beach towel at no charge!!
The beach is surrounded by hotels and food outlets so there is no shortage of places to buy a snack or drink (and occassionally people come to sell fresh fruit on the beach too).
THe beach in Bodrum itself is not really very good (shingle and very small so try this beach or some of the others around the peninsula (Bardaci etc).

by voyageur2

Bodrum's Bar Street is the right place for the people looking for unlimited fun. There are various bars and clubs. They have their own characters and you will find a proper one. If you want comfort pay attention to air condition or get wet by dancing!!
Try a Turkish night in Gumbet beach. In addition Gumbet can be a good alternative with clubs mostly with most chart music. And do not forget to look at dancing people on roofs. Climate in Bodrum is hot and dry during the summertime. You can enjoy freedom and huge variety about dressing.

gumbet beach

there is something for everyone!! if you want to just lie down and relax on the sunlounger turgutreis, torba, gundogan and bitez is for you. If you are into water sports crowded and loud fun beaches then stay in gumbet , bodrum if you like private beach loud music and big cushions to lie down orange club in gumbet is the place to go...it also turns into a beach club at night.. sea is much cleaner than central gumbet.if you like soft sand your beach is in bitez especially if you have kids you'll like it, so much to say so little space... bodrum marine club; sailing away midnight dancing on the glass floor where you can see the fish swimming under your feet..its the best night out if you are up for clubbing in this giant katamaran,it also does trips during the day to swim, sunbathe and listen calmer music while you sail. second favourite is firt stop restaurant in bodrum, superb food and excellent staff to keep you entertained, they are great with kids have pool table and games room at the back and some seasons they employ english staff for c.care while u eat

yuk yuk yuk!!!!!!!!!!

by TripAdvisor Member kentys

we have just arrived back from a week at gumbet beach.
now you do get what you pay for in life and this holiday proved it we paid little and got little.
the food was horrible.
steps a nightmare.
staff ok but were working long hours for very lttle pay.
drinks were watered down, water in unit was from the taps......people were ill because of ths.
at the bottom bar they ran out of all pop and didnt replace it all day.
we met allot of unhappy people who paid more than we did.
would not return......to turkey but not to this hotel.
room was ok but you had to pay £25 for air conditioning and as it was 136 some days you needed it.

Two nights in the dungeons!!!

by TripAdvisor Member lizads

Cheap last minute deal booked through Co-op Travel, knew there were a lot of steps but asked for a room with minimum steps because I have arthritis in the hips. Arrived in the early hours and was taken to a room right down in the dungeons, down all the normal steps, then a couple of flights of what can only be described as fire escape steps, after which were more flights of rustic stone steps, very high and with no hand rail. The room was very basic with no fridge or safety deposit box. My teenage son was horrified so we trekked all the way back to reception where we had to stay the night because there were no other rooms. Welcome meeting the next day, no rep, they got a guy from the hotel next door who told us that we would be given a new room if we were in reception at 1pm. Went for a turkish bath and massage by the pool, that was absolutely excellent. Went to get new room but was told by the manageress that they had all been allocated already and we would have to wait until the next day. Although people we had been in reception with all night had told her about us, she denied ever having heard of us and said that the Goldtrail rep had no business telling us that we would be moved, he should have told us to see her. We did eventually get moved during the afternoon of the following day after ringing reception several times to tell them that I was trapped in the dungeon and starving!! Two days of our weeks holiday wasted. We booked a boat trip with Goldtrail and the bus didnt turn up to take us back to the hotel until the owner of the boat rang for us, then there was no rep on it and the bus driver couldnt understand that some people had got fed up waiting and walked. We did eventually get through to him but it meant we had been waiting an hour after getting off the boat. We also booked to see the Dreamgirls Show with Goldtrail rep for the
Monday night, good job we decided to go Sunday night instead because it wasnt open Monday and we were leaving on Tuesday. My teenage son wouldnt touch the food, except for the chips, so we had to eat out every night, however, we really enjoyed the food at Tempo, they pick you up and drop you back at the hotel. Hassan, who's in the hotel every day will really look after you there. We tried the al a carte restaurant at the hotel expecting to choose off a menu but there isnt one, you just have the set meal which isnt much difference to the buffet menu!! Once we got moved from the dungeons, we enjoyed the holiday, but only because we loved Gumbet. If you go, thinking you wont need much money because its all inclusive, think again, food and drink is very limited indeed!! Entertainment was also very limited, if it wasnt for people we met we would have been very bored indeed!! The only redeeming features of the hotel were the views, the pool and the friendly staff. You must see Ozzie at the Turkish Bath and have one on your first day, best massage I've ever had!!

Is ok if your fairly fit!!

by TripAdvisor Member gemz85

We arrived at 5.30am we were checked in fairly quickly and asked to leave a deposit which i found funny! We were taken down the many many many steps and finally found our room, a bit cramped but clean, food was a repeated a lot and not labelled so we didnt no what we were eating but took the chance with anything that didnt look like fish. We chose to eat out 2 nights just for the change if anything. Overall I would say it was what i expected as we had only paid £240 each for a week all inclusive. Would definately go back to Gumbet but maybe try another hotel!!

Hotel of two halves

by TripAdvisor Member Kingofftheroad

I have read the reviews with some saying great and others saying rubbish.
In a way they are both right. This is a hotel divided , the top half is refurbished and although the rooms are basic they are clean and quite nice. The facilities such as pool and dining room are close by.
The rooms at the bottom are the pits in every sense of the word. We arrived at 3am to be lead down 363 steps to our room. The porter opened the door the told us to wait he would be back. The patio door was wedged open television gone and dirty bed linen on the floor. After ten minutes; dragging our suitcases we started back to the top. Luckily a cleaner was working half way up and he helped with suitcases to the top. Nine people were also asking for room changes. The bottom rooms were dirty, broken furniture, showers with curtains, that had holes in ceilings and black mould. Bed linen was dirty and mattresses and pillows stained. A building site was at back for noise during the day and music from entertainment kept you awake until the early hours.
After one day we was moved to the top when a room became available. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The pool and surrounding area was superb a fantastic view of Gumbet bay. The staff were fantastic, could n't do enough for you always smiling and courteous. More staff should be put on the bar as there is always a queue. The food was basic and a bit repetitive but chefs on terrace do omlette or pancake fresh cooked on alternate days for breakfast.
Entertainment was on lower bar so 200 steps to go down and not to a very good standard okay for kids [under 12]. Again queues for drinks which stop being inclusive at both bars at 11pm, Then 5 lire for 1/2 pint beer or any spirit.
Gumbet itself was great, Dolbus from outside every 10 mins. 24/7. Two lire fare a great atmosphere day and night. All the locals we had contact with very friendly.
Iwould definately return to this hotel if we could be guaranteed a room at the top.It was great valued for the price we paid. Had a fantastic holiday and made some great friends along the way.
TIP the Turkish allow you to take soft drinks water etc into the airport and onto the plane. The drinks at airport and plane a rip off £2.50 for a can of coke.

Gumbet Beach

by Lyndra

"Lyndra at the beach :-)"

Well in this shot you can see I am seriously overdressed for the beach but it was early in my holiday and I have skin that can burn so quickly.

Gumbet beach is approximately 10 minutes drive from Bodrum by either taxi or Dolmus (Taxi's are much more expensive for the last 2 years so a Dolmus may be a cheaper option if yoy intended to go to Gumbet regularly).
It is not the best beach on the peninsula - Bardakci (you can get a boat transfer from the Marina area), or further afield to Turgetreis or Yalikavak offer nicer beaches but Gumbet is handy and has a large stretch of beach so you are never too crowded together. There is a wide range of water sports available and if you venture into Gumbet town there is no shortage of restaurants, cafes and shops that offer cheap food and drink.

Hi if u wanna come to Turkey, I'd love to meet u here in Turkey..

Re: watersports in gumbet

by explicitlyrix

Was in gumbet about 2 years ago, and from what I remember there were a good few activities on offer - all pretty much for around the same price, best advice would be just to walk the beach first to get an idea. We did the Banana boat, donoughts and went on a day cruise around the bays which was AMAZING!!!

Enjoy Gumbet, it's BRILLIANT!

Re: watersports in gumbet

THere are many options for water sports at Gumbet but you could try Sandy. She is a lady who comes from Manchester but lives in Turkey and she runs water activities on Gumbet Beach (near the Jasmin Apartments and hotel).

I would say Bodrum is your best choice, i've been to both and Bodrum has a better night life by far.

What about daylife?

by misici

Thanks for your answer, please tell me where are better beaches for swimming?

RE: RE: Bodrum or Alanya or...?

by whitecliff62

If you go to Bodrum there is a lovely beach about 10 mins bus ride away, its in a village called Bitez, you can check out the beach on my Bitez page, in fact why not stay in Bitez, we found this great because its not to noisy and if you want the bright lights of Bodrum its only a short bus ride away, this way you get the best of everything.
