Re: BAYTUR HOTEL

by Tuna_ank

I guess you mean "Gümbet" . Gümbet is out of the Bodrum city center but very close. (You must take a taxi or minibus if there is.)
I found a page about that hotel but for English you must look more.
Write "gümbet+Baytur"
Have a good trip.

Travel Tips for Bodrum

post office and telephones

by erendilight

In the centre of all resort you will find the Post Office which is indicated in Bodrum with a yellow sign resding "P.T.T." The opening hours may vary from town to town but in general in high season your local post office is open from early morning until at least midnight and seven days a week. Here you can buy stamps and make telephone calls. Some accommodations sell stamps and will post letters and cards for you. When calling home of course the easiest way is to phone from your hotel or apartments. Most accommodations have direct telephones in the rooms or if not the reception can connect you.

A Heaven for Watersports

by voyageur2

Bodrum is one of the best known scuba centers of Turkey. Almost every corner of the peninsula offers nice oppotunities for scuba funs. You may find many agencies focusing on scuba equipment and training in city center.

Halikarnas Disco

by maxovna

Halikarnas has been operating for 22 years, situated in the heart of Bodrum at the seaside overlooking St. Peter's Castle. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful night club in the world. It can hold 5000 people, making it the biggest open-air night club in the world. There you may watch the amazing laser shows, the foam shows, dance with the misicians and dance groups until early hours of the morning. They say Halikarnas is a must when in Bosrum, whatever your age.

Taxis in Bodrum

by Lyndra

Movement between Bodrum and the other peninsula towns will happen easily by Dolmus but sometimes you may want to get a taxi. The cost of taxis in Bodrum has steadily risen over the last few years and it can be quite expensive to use taxis. Avoid them in the day and opt for walking or dolmus but at night when you feel like you have no choice but to hail one be sure to know where you are going to avoid the scenic route being taken and adding a large number of YTL to your bill.
I always tip the taxis if they have not taken liberties with my patience on their routes but this is easy to do after many years in Bodrum and a growing familiarity with the routes and roads. Most taxi drivers in Bodrum speak some English, fewer taxi drivers in the beach area of Gumbet do so be really clear about where you want to go or better still, carry a map of the town with you to point out where you want to go.

Great service and tasty food!

by Lyndra about Alp Kaptan

This is a delightful restaurant! It is situated at the top of a hill (quite a trek to get up there) but is certainly worth the effort as the food is very good. Lovely turkish specialities, some european foods and some fast food mean there is a good choice for all. The staff are generally great (except the little annoyance of trying to sell you necklaces while you are eating - the turkish way I'm afraid) and the manager is very interesting to talk to. Their Chicken Coketme (sorry for the bad spelling!!) is a signature dish and they do a wonderful traditional Sunday Lunch which really does taste as if you were in the UK - it's huge and tasty (you need to book this in advance because it is so popular)
