RE: The Mandarin Hotel Bodrum

by Mandykay

We stayed at the mandarin Hotel last June. We were part of a group of three couples who arrived and departed at different dates. My partner and I were there for two weeks. We were supposed to be staying at a sister hotel(Bantur Naz, staff friendly, rooms pokey and dark) across the road, and indeed were placed there for the 1st night. We were so pleased to move to the Mandarin as it was superior to the Bantur Naz. The Mandarin comprises of an old and new part. The new part is modern ,and clean. The old part is designed as a village with low rise rooms or apartments. There are two pools and a "day bar" and "night bar" free local drinks for "All inclusive" until 11pm. The staff were friendly, although it pays to give a small tip each day. This ensures that they serve you quickly in line with customers who pay cash each time they want something. We enjoyed the food, some didn't. It is traditional Turkish food, but unless you are very fussy, you should be able to find something you like to eat. There was a choice of two or three meals each night.

There is "Jimmys bar" across the lane, which plays music and has guys who try to convince you to go in there each time to walk pass. However, they are good humoured and great fun if you like a noisy night. You are within easy walking distance of the noisy night life on the sea front (to the left, or the old part of town (to the right).

A chap named mohammed may ask you if you would like your professional photos taken up at the windmills. This is worth doing for the view of Bodrum, however, the photos will cost you quite a bit if you buy them!

We would definately visit this hotel again.
