Mausoleion Open Air Museum
It gets its name from the fact that the tomb of Mansolosiun, the King of Caria, is located here. His wife, also his sister, had the most famous architects of the day design the structure. It was almost completely destroyed in the Great Anatolian earthquake. There is a small museum here at the site of this tomb which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The word "mausoleum" is taken from King Mausolos' name. Many of the stones of this Mausoleum were used in the construction of Bodrum Castle. The beautiful reliefs on the grave, however, were taken to the British Museum during the excavations in the 19th century.
Crazy Bar!!!
by Lyndra about Sensi Bar
Sensi Bar is a real young persons bar on Bar Street (Cumhuriyet Caddessi). It is one of the bars that is on the bar crawl trail of the holiday tour operators - this may or may not encourage you to go there!! It is the usual Bar Street style - modern disco/pop classics, lively people dancing on tables, bar staff doing everything they can to draw you in from the promenade that runs alongside the strip.
They have a large screen for football. DJ's (the music selection is pretty much the same in all touristy parts of Turkey), Karaoke etc with seating inside and outside the bar. The usual drinks are available (exported beers quite expensive, local beers and cocktails including the famous Goldfish Bowl).
This bar is not the best on Bar Street but is certainly OK for a few cheap drinks before you go elsewhere. No dress code at Sensi Bar - dress to impress or be chilled, it won't affect your fun!
Friendly Restaurant
by andrea.d about Friendly restaurant
As the name says, the staff of this restaurant was really friendly! In general, food in most of the restaurants in Turgutreis was good, but it was the staff in this restaurant that made us come back again, and again... Chicken shish kebab, is a traditional dish. It was very good! I reccomend it!
St Peter's castle
by Martino100
You can't miss it when you're looking at sea on the beach of Bodrum. It's one of the best preserved castles from medieval times.
The castle was built by the knights of St John in 1406. They used the stones of the ancient mausoleum to built the castle.
