Dolphin Pension: Avoid this place

Back in February, I reserved a room here for a weeks stay in July. As the prices were the same on booking agents and the hotels own website, I booked directly with the hotel, to save their losing any money to the agency. The booking was made by email with the hotel owner. The website gave the cost as 90 lira half board for a single room, and the owner requested a depost of 2 nights cost stating this would be 180 lira. They gave me their bank account details and I transferred the money as requested. I then received an email from them confirming receipt of the deposit and confirming my reservation.

A few days before my holiday was due to start, I rang them to check on the last stage of transport to the hotel, and was told they had no record of my reservation, and no vacant rooms for that time.

I began quoting from our email correspondence back in February and the man I was speaking to acknowledged he had found this. He then said he could maybe fit me in with a room for a few days and then transfer me to another pension for the remaining days - but that I had been told the wrong price by the person he himself acknowleged was the owner (who was of course not available) and that the price was now 153 lira instead of 90 per night.

Either they are grossly incompentent, and don't take responsibilty when they do make mistakes, or this is a deliberate way to lure people into booking with one price, and then jacking it up considerably (almost double!) at the last minute.

So I have lost my holiday at the last minute, in spite of booking well in advance, in writing, directly with the hotel, and paying a deposit.
