by Erkmen
After you get freshed in the Mudbaths now is the time to walk.. The boats will take you to the ruins of Caunos city.. You need to walk around 10-15 min. to reach the ruins.. Be careful for the sunburn..
The Caunos ruins are coming in to daylight more and more each year, however currently only 10% of the ruins are on the scene..
Spa
by JLBG
Natural springs have allowed building a wide spa provided with a highly mineralized water. It is sulfurous water that has a strong smell of rot eggs. Mud bath are also available. They are very popular in Turkey and there were mainly Turk visitors, much more than foreign tourists. We tried the sulfurous water bath but not the mud bath !
I know that sulfurous fumes are very aggressive and I left my camera well enclosed and protected in its bag. Then, no photo available, sorry!
Caunos ruins and the Lycian tombs
by JLBG
We visited this part of Turkey on the occasion of a sailing trip from Fethiye to Marmaris. This was self steering but not as independent: we had hired a boat in a flotilla of an English company. There were twelve hired boats and an “admiral boat” with two guides. Each morning, there was a briefing presenting the sailing route for the day and giving next harbor. Between two harbors, we were on our own and had only to be in the evening moored in next harbor. In case of any problem, we could call the admiral boat, which never occurred.
Ikincik was one of our moorings. We spent two nights in Ikincik as there was a trip on an excursion boat scheduled on Dalyan river to visit the ruins of Caunos and the Lycian tombs.
