You can not see luxury buildings here.. The houses are limited with two floors.. There is only one main street and that stroll between the houses and river.. Just a small town but carries all the spirit of a comfortable vacation without being disturbed..
As you journey through the river delta look out for the ancient city of Caunos - named ater the King of the same name. According to legend, Koycegiz Lake was created from his aunt's tears after his father had spurned her.
Caunos was originally a lycian port and rock tombs can be seen high in the cliffs. There are two kinds of rock-tombs at Dalyan-simple chambers hollowed from the cliff in the lower row and more elaborate temple-tombs higher up. Most are believed to have been constructed towards the middle of the 4C BC
The tables of the bar were well shaded under the poplars. The drinks were perfectly cool. However, the temperature was deadly hot because of the northerly wind.
What?
Aren’t we in Turkey and isn’t Turkey in the Northern hemispheres and in the Northern hemisphere aren’t Northerly winds cold ones ?
Yes, this is right. Most of the time but not here in southwestern Turkey! Look at a map. In the Fethiye-Marmaris area, northerly winds blow across the high plateaux of Anatolia which are dry and hot. When they reach the coast, this is as if they were going out of an oven!
The result: everybody is know down by the heat, except the photographer, of course. On duty haha!
