More about Destina Hotel

You geet what you pay for!! we didnt pay a lot tho....

by TripAdvisor Member nijnshell

Overall we had a good week at the destina but would not go back . it was a last minute booking for our honeymoon and we didnt pay a lot for the holiday.
We arrived early morning to be greated by the Thomas Cook rep who didnt have our names on her list , so as far as she was concerned we didnt exist!
However the hotel was clean basic friendly and quiet which was okay for us .
the food was okay but repetitive if you like meatballs your in for a treat,!one dya was meatball stew. then battered meatballs.followed by meatballs in bolognaise, then they even sliced the meatballs for a bit of variation.
To be fair tho if you want a cheap week away you could do alot worse than the destina . its set in a lovely village not far from ouldeniz.which is pronouned ,Old Denise!
We usually go for 4 star hotels and will be doing in the future but for the money paid it was good value.
Wouldnt go back tho as the spirits at the all inclusive bar are undrinkable.

HIDDEN GEM-BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS,GIVE IT A GO.

by TripAdvisor Member holidaysyepee

I have just returned after a weeks stay at this hotel i wasnt expecting much after reading reviews in this website and we only paid £11 pound per person per night all inc.
This hotel is now a thomas cook hotel and has a rep leanne visiting 6 days she is great will sort out everything you want and need, best rep ive ever met.The hotel has enterainment day and night in peak season but didnt start till 1st june however the other people in hotel were so freindly we all chatted to each other and made our own entertainment.
The hotel is mainly all english and sits on a hill with great views, its made up of 3 three storey blocks.
The rooms were of a resonable size with pleanty of storage space, free a ir and tv,hairdryer and small balcony. The rooms are very clean and are cleaned every day and towels/bedding changed regular.
The complex is well kept with the pool been cleaned every mornig and the pool area kept free of plastic cups/cups ,litter etc.
The all inclusive included BREAKFAST 8-9.30AM LUNCH 12.30-2PM DINNER 8-10PM.SNACKS 3-4PM TEA,COFFEE AND CAKES 5-6PM.DRINKS 8AM-11PM{PAYABLE AFTER}JUICE MACHINES 24HRS AT POOL BAR.
THE FOOD WAS NICE GREAT SALAD/PASTA BAR,2 OR 3 CHOICES OF MEAT AND 2 CHOICES OF POTATOES,RICE, VEG,FRESH FRUIT,FRESHLY BAKED BREAD,CHOICE OF 5 DESSERTS MOST MEAL TIMES.
Ovacik its self is so peaceful with great views,10 mins bus/taxi to feithye or oludeniz ,there a few bars/restuarants scattered around the hotel one being evitas which we went for breakfast a few times £2 for full english and very nice too and just a few mins for destina .Hisaronu is just 10-15 min walk down hill which is full of restuarants, bars, shops it has a great nightlife and a market on a monday costs 10 lira back to hotel.
THE DESTINA HOTEL HAS GREAT STAFF,GOOD MANAGEMENT AND IS A GREAT PLACE IS STAY,IT IS A HIDDEN GEM.
WELL DONE DESTINA TEAM AND OF COURSE LEANNE TOO.

Everything absolutely brilliant - whats the moanin all about??

by TripAdvisor Member LuvTurkey25

Me and my partner stayed at the Destina Hotel in Ovacik in June after obtaining a very decent late deal. Read the reviews as normal on the website and seem a bit too harsh for my liking. Wondered what kind of food there would be after reading the reports but beleive me was wondeful and everyone i spoke to thort the same also.Location is stunning set back in the mountains and yes is about a ten minute trek down the Hisaronu but theres planty of bars to stop of and get refereshments and think of the excersize calf muscles going up hill - to die for!!:)
Just makes me wonder what kind of food these people are after - a full english breakfast perhaps? Then stay in England and enjoy the foods here, dont bother trying any local dishes as your wasting your time. There wasnt just chicken on the menu each night a very good variety of meats to offer in accordance to their religion as they are of course muslim.
One other tip although rep was ok (never had any issues to complain about anything so cannot rate?)dont buy the trips thru them as way to expensive find half the price in the town and they do the same job!

good value for money

by TripAdvisor Member louisesmith37

i have just returned from a week at the destina with the lasses.i was dreading going after the reviews i had read on here but the place was very nice.we only paid £11 each per night all inclusive and what we got for the money well worth it.
The pool was big and very clean with plenty of sunbeds at anytime of the day.the rooms were spacious enough for 2 people with a walk in shower and hairdryer aswell as free t.v.
the food was nice and was always something on the menu that i liked.the bugers at snack time were very nice to.the drinks were limited to local beer, raki, vodka gin and bandy aswell as your tea/coffee and soft drinks.the staff were very nice and nothing was to much trouble for them.
there was no entertainment on in this hotel as the season had only just begun so entertainment would be coimng soon.it took 15 mins to walk or stagger down the hill but it was not steep.ia taxi back would cost about 10 lira on a night to get back home.there are pubs and restuarants on the way down the hill.
we tried a place just down the road that did a lovely english brekie for just 5 lira(£2)called EVITA restuarant.we also had a lovely meal in the HONEYMOON restuarant in hisaronu.it was £6.95 for 3 courses.
there was a curtious bus to the beach at oli denis at 10.30 every day and brought youback at 5pm.we went to the beach once.the sand is all stones and shingles but the water is very clear.
the weather was fantasic and very hot (41degs)without a cloud in the sky for the whole time we were there.
All in all a very lovely resort and hotel with a great thomas cook rep called Leanne who made our holiday even more special and welcoming,i want to go back!!!

Brilliant Holiday will def go back!!

by TripAdvisor Member essexsunlover93

I dont see how people moan, this hotel was lovely, food was different all the time beef, fish chicken sausage, diff soup everyday loads of types of salad dishes, snack was lovely too. desserts were slightly weird but onced tried were really nice. rooms were clean, pool was clean, a variety of drinks, people lovely staff really friendly and it so so peaceful!!
i also had a turkish bath there on site and o my it was perfect......!!!
me and my family slept like a log. You dont pay much for this hotel compared to some others, so you get what you pay for! theres always fussy people that like to pick up on everything and moan about it, but you should definatly give this hotel a chance, good food, service, clean and peaceful what more can you ask for!!

will definately stay here again

by TripAdvisor Member pablo1951

cannot praise the staff enough, they couldnt try any harder to please, sometimes the waiters try too hard. Having said that, if you cant find something that you like to eat from the selection offered, stay i n the uk. Many thaks to all the staff from the cleaners up to management, with special thanks to Ersin and Tahsin ( the mad man) for a great holiday

Value for Money

by TripAdvisor Member andycotton1984

As stated in the title, this hotel is good value for money. Most people we spoke to paid around £230 - £350 for a week all inclusive.

The hotel was in a nice setting surrounded by mountains and nice gardens. The hotel itself was decent, rooms were of an average sizes and most importantly, clean.

The Pool was very large meaning it was never over crowded. There were always spare sunbeds and umbrellas. Pool entertainment was good, volleyball, waterpolo along with pool and ping pong. Pool Bar was ok.

I would have given a four star rating but food knocked this down to a 3 star. Although the food was ok, there was no variety. Every lunch and dinner there was chips and rice, all the 'chefs' varied was the meat dish which was always a type of fish and then either meatballs, chicken of lamb. Salad bar was very good.

Location was ok for myself, it was around 15 minute walk to centre of Hisaronu down a hill so not ideal for some. Beach was about 15 min bus ride to Olu Deniz which the hotel laid on for free at 10:30am.

Most of staff were good, only bar man at pool bar was iffy, you will know which one I mean. Entertainment was good in day, not so much at night.

Overall a very nice holiday, would return to this resort again. If you can get this hotel for around £300 for the week I would suggest booking it as you would be getting value for money.

Friendliest hotel we've ever stayed in.

by TripAdvisor Member lizzieinthesun

This was one of the best holidays we've had in Turkey; everyone from the staff to the other guests were so friendly, it felt like we were staying with family. That said, it is a cheap holiday & you get what you pay for. Overall the food was great although the hot food wasn't always hot, but good selection especially from the mezzes bar. It ticked all our boxes being so peaceful, we were rather glad the entertainment hadn't got into full swing; the Turkish belly dancing night was great fun. The walk down to Hisaronu is lovely, stop in the chill out bar on the way back up for the freshest squeezed orange juice which is gorgeous & just take inthe breathtaking views of the Babadag Mountains. Don't book your excursions thru the rep, they are a total rip-off, book in Hisaronu, half the price. We would like to thank the waiters(Haroun) & bar staff(Ersin),& Bako the entertainment (whistler extrodanaire) for giving us such a super holiday. Also thanks to our beautiful cleaner who decorated our bed with roses everyday.

RE: looking for apartment to rent for summer

by fethiyegirl

Hi

The best place to look is at www.landoflights.net. this is the website for the local english newspaper and they have a classified section with short rents etc, I did this last year and rented a small apart in Fethiye for £200 for 6 weeks. There is a lady called Juliana who advertises in there, the aparts she advertises are normally long term lets but if you give her a call she can normally do a deal. I know all this as i lived in Fethiye for 3 years so have some insider info!!!

If you need any other info then get in touch.

hope you find some where
