Sesame
All around the area, except cotton fields, you'll find sesame fields. They harvest and gather them in these cone-shaped formations and let them rest until they pick them up. I just love the way it looks.

Are there any 2* or 3* hotels or apartments in central fethiye - not calis or hisaronu or others out of town?
hello,
have a look at the following website for the answers of your question;
www.bookinturkey.com
Yes, there are certainly hotels.
If you put 'hotels fethiye' into google you will first get a map with 10 individual hotels marked and listed, as well as various booking sites. Tripadvisor lists 107 in and around the town:
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g298031-Fethiye_Mugla_Province_Turkish_Aegean_Coast-Hotels.html
so you can check reviews etc for those marked on the google map.

In order to enter the canoyn trail, you need to cross exuberant river. At the spot they offer rubber shoes (and they charge for it!) so better take your own, or something you can walk through water with. The stream is VERY powerful, you have to make a lot of effort to cross the water, and it is reaching your butt!
The town is great for shopping at less touristic prices - try bartering for a real bargain in leather, ceramics, gold and spices here.
In the centre of town you'll come across sarcophagi just sitting in the middle of the pavement! (as in this pic). This one is just by the Fethiye Archaeological Museum - we didn't go in but artefacts can be seen from the Lycian, Roman and Byzantine eras.
Looking for a cheap break to somewhere sunny and , hopefully, interesting. Olu Deniz looked to fit the bill, and, although for various reasons, I had avoided Turkey in the past, Olu Deniz had held an interest from my time selling holidays.
Whilst there, I did a little more than sit on the beach. I also visited Fethiye, hiked about in the forest (not to where I actually meant to go, but, whatever), went to Hisaronu (hmm) and the ghost village of Kayakoy. And of course, the blue lagoon.
And, of course, had to fit in a flight, Olu Deniz, with the Baba Dag (Father Mountain) being one of the worlds prime paragliding spots.
