Help to find bus from Fethiye to Kemer

by gizmo75

Hi,

I'm coming to Turkey next week and would like to find a bus from Fethiye to Kemer (or Antalya if Kemer is not possible).

I'd like to travel Fri Sept 5th or Sat 6th.

thanks a lot for your help

Just go to Fethiye Otogar (Bus Station). There are buses leaving every hour for Antalya. Check with the ticket offices and they will advise you whether any go via Kemer or whether you'll have to go to Antalya first.

Hi Gizmo, Yeah buses easy but you need to do a little more work. Bus station been modernised and really efficient now!
Note: Assume you mean coastal Kemer as small valley outside Fethiye also Kemer, off the main highway, so make sure they dont confuse your request! If its the valley you want should not take too long and they do a mini bus.
Buses to Fethiye to Antalya - 2 routes:
1)Some go coastal(long route - 7 hours I heard!) but Kemer is on coastal route to Antalya.
2) Most go over mountain, 3-4 hours, into Antalya.
So you may require coastal route however I would also research if its quicker to go into ANTALYA by mountain route bus then change there to snake back down the coast from Antalya itself, as could be quicker? Need to check this. Nothing surprises me in Turkey.Could try distance map first or google earth??
iyi yolculuklar!

OK Gizmo,You better take mountain route to Antalya and then a connection to snake down to Kemer (52 km south west of Antalya) as this should be quickest way. There is so much ground to cover on coastal route from Fethiye to Antalya, I see why it takes so long! Looks like the shorter side of a triangle to go mountain route. Buses should be available but get busier running this direction due to Ramadan in Turkey.(I got stuck in Antalya once and couldnt get out of it!) If you wish to enquire/ book 'Fethiye Seyahat' in Fethiye otogar run 5 middle-sized buses to Antalya daily - Tel from outside TK 0090 252 614 6785 or Pamukkale - large coach, more comfy, however unsure about service from Fethiye-Antalya,in my mind only runs reverse on their ANT-ISTANBUL route.Fethiye Pamukkale Ofis is 0090 252 612 3766. They didnt have many English speaking operators but hope this helps? Their website is difficult to navigate unless you know some turkish.

Travel Tips for Fethiye

Touch salmons at the bar...

by voyageur2

Fethiye does not mean only beaches. It is also a planet of mountains and exciting rural areas. Yakapark is one of nice places to see. Many daily tour packages to Saklikent include Yakapark and Tlos. Tlos is an ancient site and views of Xantos(Esen) Valley are great from acropolis of Tlos.
Additionaly after your lunch in Yakapark, you may have a drink at the bar. During that time, you can touch salmons swimming on the bar...
Tlos has famous Lycian rock graves and sarcophagi. And it is the place of mythological Ikaros and Bellerophontes.

Dolmus

by JohnandSuzie

Dolmus's look like old minibuses, they are cheap but you wouldn't want to go far in them especially in the heat and they can get crowded.
The prices are fixed you pay the driver after telling him where you want to go. Sometimes there is a price list in the window and the destination is on the front.

Carpets

by Aurorae

Enter the old town and walk into some of the (many!) carpet shops! It's an Aladdin world! ;) There are different carpets of all sizes, shapes and colours, hanging all over and merchants will invite you to take a look and bargain for the best price.

Fethiye and surrounding area

My Fethiye Page will be about both Fethiye and Olu Deniz which is just a short dolmus ride away.

I really liked Fethiye, it is a busy town, with a mega busy harbour - we picked up our Gulet cruise from Fethiye, and stayed over the night before. It has most things that the traveller needs, shops, restaurants and internet.

Olu Deniz is a short dolmus ride away through spectacular pine mountain scenery. Our reason for visiting Olu Deniz was to see the glorious beach and to paraglide from Baba Dag.

Olu Deniz was beautiful from above when you are gliding over it, when you are actually walking around it, its nothing more than an overpriced, over commercialised tourist trap.
Dont let this put you off though - its worth going for the views of the beach and a swim in the lagoon.
