we as a family of 3 booked this holiday for £1500 with the recommended sales talk of paul from bookable !! all inclusive and 5 star and everything for a nine year old to do ie football swimming and a kids club for 4_12 year olds well if he could play football in a pool (because thats all there is) at this tin pot operation i am sure man u would have signed him up . we arrived and were put on a bus that did not move for one and half hours out of the airport with no air conditioning as the brain dead driver switched the engine off and walked away to have a fag and the non customer care from gold trail reps were no where to be seen . the welcome meeting was a farce the insitu rep turned up 15 mins late no welcome local drink and no welcome packs handed out i walked out after 5 mins with this balloon rep telling familes that a wonderful disco was nearby (know your customers eh) the rooms were very small for familes dirty and the fridge did not work . Finally as new customers to this company i feel the holiday was misold and will be never return to LITERA LABRANDA

Loved it!!

What do people expect for the money ! we had a fab weeks holiday. food was fine, pool lovely staff excellent, no watered down drinks!! local village is great, walked there and back every night, drinks food very reasonable there. Lovely local people, made you feel very welcome. Bodrum is very busy. dont go there too late in the evening. our room was cleaned very day, and sheets changed twice. If you dont like anything, management were very happy to discuss alternatives. don t go there thinking you will get English food, only Turkish which is how it should be. You are not allowed to put towels out now, only when you are actually by the pool.

Five star my [--]. Awful rooms, staff, gym, food. Don't ever go there. It is at best a 2 star. Beach is a gravel strip and you'll have a [--] every day for a lounger that is probably broken anyway.

Reps from Goldtrail are absolutely awful and I didn't speak to one person who was enjoying their stay. Two families left the minute they arrived it was so horrible.

Keep your money and go someone else. It is a five star because it has over 100 rooms and a big lobby (actually told this by the rep). Quality doesn't come into Goldtrails grading.

Unbelievable. Wouldn't even take my worst enemy here...

What a bargain!

We booked our holiday just one week in advance and having read some reviews we were not really expecting too much. We were very pleasantly surprised!

The rooms were fairly small but very clean. Towels were changed as often as you wanted and the beds were made up daily. We had a massive balcony with stunning views.

As for the food, it was good quality, fresh and local. There was a wide range of salad items to choose from as well as hot food (stews, meatballs, kebabs, chicken legs etc). Afternoon snacks were also served (they had lovely pizza) and there was coffee and cakes at 5pm. You would have to be the fussiest of eaters not to find something to like. The thing I found most annoying was that a lot of people were unwilling to try the food, just dismissing it because it wasn't what they are used to at home. If you only like British food then holiday in Britain!

The drinks were also absolutely fine. You could help yourself to tea, coffee, juices and water all day or if you wanted fizzy drinks or alcohol then the bar was open from 10am to 11pm. The spirits were local and an acquired taste but I was rather fond of the red wine. My husband had no complaints about the taste of the lager but as it was local don't expect it to be like the ones at home.

The hotel's facilities were great. The sauna, steam room, gym and jacuzzi were all free. We had a Turkish bath and as there were four of us, we managed to get the price down to £20 each. It was well worth it.

There are a few nice bars in the town, our favourite being Fuegos - a really classy place where you can sit by the water's edge and relax. Joe's bar was also good. Don't be put off by the walk down the hill, it really isn't that bad! There are steps as an alternative to the road but take care at night, they are not very well lit and so it is easy to trip over.

All in all, we had a brilliant week. The staff were friendly, the weather was perfect, the pool and beach area were great and I would definitely go back.

Oh Dear!

Ok.. so the hotel couldnt have foreseen the delays getting out there, however when you arrive you get asked to sit in the lobby and wait. 5 minutes later you are told you are in the other hotel down the road, and taken there by shuttle bus. Get shown to the room, with the air conditioning that doesnt work and the broken toilet seat. As we were late getting tehre we went to bed, but couldnt sleep because it was too hot. Told reception about the air con not working and was told that I had to stay in teh room another night, but would be moved the next day before noon. When I went to swap rooms after breakfast I was told to come back at 12, half a day of my holiday wasted. There is a shuttlebus to the main hotel, which runs at certain times. The walk there and back is steep, and not well lit at night.

The sunbeds at the pool were all taken by 5.30 am. (although on my last day there appeared a sign saying no towels on beds before 7 am - still no good though if you are at the hotel down the road!) The All Inclusive wasnt quite all inclusive as i have experienced before. There were no free ice creams, cocktails were chargeable, however there were afternoon chips or pasta, and cake.

Food was quite nice, tho it doesnt look good when you see frozen 'meatball' sticks being put on the grill and being adertised as'Meatballs on skewers'.

Entertainment was non-existent - although we had one good day- courtesy of the Brits (thanks you Laura and Rhianon) taking the matter into their own hands and organising events thoughout the day. The day was marred tho when Laura got a nasty gash in her foot on the broken tile at the poolside - which had been reported at least three times to three different people.

if you want to lay by a pool all day with no entertainment, sunshine, and little else then this is the place to go.

The coach transfer to the airport on the return was a farce. The coach was too small for the number of people traveling. The luggage took up the back of the coach as it didnt fit in the luggage hold, and one gentleman ended up sitting in the stairwell for the journey. I sat at the back, with two 9 year olds, and spent the whole journey wondering if the suitcases piled up behind us were going to fall on us.

We have just got back from the labranda. We paid £ 360 per person for all inclusive...what great value ! the hotel was more than adequate. The food was lovely. Lots of fresh local dishes... I can only imagine that the people who have complained about the food are the same people who love Blackpool or Benidorm and enjoy a full english everyday and whose children only eat chips and nuggets....they probably are the same people who were getting up at 4am to put their towels on their sunbeds !! Yes 4am ( one day we were told they were trying to claim their beds at 2 am ). We used the pool by the beach was lovely. quiet and not to much trouble to get your sunbed.
The staff were friendly as were all the locals we met. The town is a traditional Turkish fishing village not a resort packed with beach bars and amusements...... it was in fact a quality resort where you could taste real Turkey.
Fuego's is definitely worth a visit even if its just for an after dinner drink.
So if you like Blackpool or Benidorm, chips at every meal dont go to the Labranda. If you want a value for money holiday in a traditional Turkish fishing village book asap !

We have only have one complaint and its not directed at the hotel or the reps or the staff...its the agent we booked with ' QUERTY TRAVEL' we were told we had a transfer time of 1 hour 15 minutes from the airport at Izmir. In fact it was 3hours 20 mins......a bit of a shock to say the least. People who flew to Bodrum paid on average £80 to £90 per person more than us so we managed to console ourselves.........

Fantastic holiday!

by TripAdvisor Member kate4321

We went on this holiday as a last minute deal and having read some reviews on here we were not expecting too much. However, we had an amazing holiday and the hotel was fantastic! Staff were friendly and welcoming, rooms were very clean, towels changed daily, fantastic food and stunning views. I honestly cannot understand the negative reviews on this website. We did come across a number of very rude guests (English I am sorry to say) moaning about the most silly things for examply the food - don't expect to go to Turkey, or any other country for that matter expecting to be served burger and chips! Food was lovely and a wide selection to please all. The poor hotel staff tried their upmost to please but couldnt have won with these people whatever they'd have done. I would say this is by far a 5* hotel by Turkey standards but perhaps a high 3* or 4* by English standards. Only negative is the loud music played by the pool. I would recommend this hotel fully and recommend it to anyone.

the weather was the best thing about the holiday although the food was not too bad always somthing on the menu to eat, room was small but ok for what you needed on holiday. the entertainment or lack of it we had 2 nights with entertainment ,a belly dancer &some turkish dancers, the other was a group of turkish guests getting some of the other guests up dancing. the rest of the nights were spent playing cards with another couple staying in the hotel. as for the goldtrail reps!

its what you make of it

by TripAdvisor Member missymiss27

i have just got back from 2 week holiday in gulluk after reading the reviews i must admit i really was not looking forward to the holiday. transfer through goldtrail was a bit of a nightmare they seem not very organised at the airport and shouting when we got the hotel we were met by friendly reception staff we had 2 rooms booked there ok they were basic but i was only wanting a bed and a shower.. your on holiday and ı knew ı was not going to stay long time awake in the room. the food was nice fresh and the fish was pleasant. goldtrail reps were not helpful at all they kept saying back in 5 minutes then find them sitting on sofa playing on laptop. i found them rude and i was shocked when they were telling us stories about the hotel staff manager and old staff on the welcome meeting! not sure if thats thier way of welcoming us but was not good and after 3 hour sleep we did not want to know about who got sacked and who had a fight i will be complaining to goldtrail.
its a short walk to the village and very pretty. nightclub at the bottom of the road worth checking out the wine is quite expensive but worth it in there.
on way to club is travel office y literia beach they give good advice on local trips and cheap i would reccomend popping in
i met young english lady who works there was very pleasant and helpful when my daughter fell over and hurt herself.
bodrum is short distance if u find gulluk to small then go for night out in bodrum. overall i loved my holiday i spent most days on trips

Food, although lack of variety
Drink, although beer was watered down

Room - smell & shower dirty
Entertainment - didn't exist.
Beach access - very steep steps and hill to beach
Hotel shop prices - very expensive
General hotel facilities
Sunbeds - need to get up at 7am to get one. Not enough for amount of guests
Pool is too small for the size of the hotel
Seating - not enough for amount of guests
No cash machine facilities
Only 3 English TV channels - wouldn't have been a problem if guests were entertained
Cleaners leaving room doors unlocked
Cleaning - total lack of it
Constant house music by the pool - clearly catered for the young
terrible for kids - nothing for them to do
Breakfast - bland
Lunch - bland
Dinner - bland
No towels before 7am rule, was not adhered to. Staff didn't remove towels
Lack of information - no signs or posters about local town, how to get there etc
No drinks allowed in rooms
No ice creams

Very good:
Go on the boat trip. It was a fantastic day and gets you away from the hotel, even though you have to pay

Terrible entertainment and pool 'dj's' only played music they wanted, to test their mixing abilities. Could be a fantastic hotel but felt very let down.

Bring a pack of cards, a good book and hope for good weather.
