New (2007) season, Please ignore old reviews!
by TripAdvisor Member dogrobber
If you are traveling for the 2007 season PLEASE ignore all the previous reviews. We were really very scared after reading the other reviews but were very pleasantly surprised!
Room was clean, tidy; bedding lay out beautifully and decorated with local flowers. Bathroom was clean and fully functional, no bad smells.
The staff was friendly, helpful and polite. Only a small number had good English but they were all willing to learn and we saw an improvement in their English even in just our week stay!
The food was also a pleasant surprise, don't expect too much from the 'hot' selection but a massive array of salad and an awesome stone oven cooking traditional 'pizza' style food (I could have quite happily ate only from this all week) I think if staying for two weeks we would have liked to eat out once or twice but only for a change of scenery.
There was a valiant attempt at entertainment, which left a little to be desired but our week was also the first for the entertainment team so I am sure it can only improve!
the 'local' beer is actually Tuborg (the number one beer in Denmark) and is very good, free along with local spirits from 10am to 11pm. entertainment often goes on past 11pm so expect to spend a little at the bar (discount for AI customers) after the bell rings.
The only complaint I heard from anyone was of the noise from the peacocks and cockerel, but personally I actually found this quite a pleasant wake up call for the day.
Highly recommend the Green Forest Hotel and would love to go back. Please don't despair at the previous reviews and look forward to your holiday!
A good base for your holiday.

We did not expect much after reading previous reveiws, and decided to make the best of it, even if it meant eating out. We had a quad room for 2 adults 1 teenager and 1 child on all inclusive board.
The room consisted of two separate rooms, one with a douuble bed and and other with twin beds. Each room had its own shower room toilet and sink. The rooms were basic and dated, but clean and plenty of space for us, they also had a fridge tv and hair dryer. The towels and sheets were changed every day and keep clean by the maid. We were happy with our rooms but heard lots of others complaining.
The hotel overall is dated but the pool is really lovely and kept clean. The setting is beautifull when you look around all you can see is moutains and the forest. The town is very close by, only 5mins and its hard to realise how close you are because you can not hear or see anything of it.
Breakfast is very basic and we did n't really bother with it, lunch was ok ,afternoon snack was always fresh as it was cooked in front of you. Evening meal was usally ok and the barb-a-que was a lot better. The AI drinks seem to consist of only beer vodka gin or brandy and soft drinks and finished at 11pm, after that drinks had to be paid for. The entertainment varied, some nights non exsistent other nights professional belly dancer or folk dancing troup.
We went on a jeep safari booked through Hamish McTurk. A fantastic full day with lunch seeing many sights and an exellent guide who is also very entertaining. A long day but both my 14 yr and 7yr olds both said it was our best day, a real must. We all really enjoyed our holiday, the area is fantastic. We would problay not go back to the greenforest but we didn't let it ruin our holiday, and enjoyed the good points. One last thing, the graveyard some people have mentioned, did n't bother us, you can not see it unless you really go looking and I certainly didn't find it creepy.
Fantastic !!! Ignore Bad Reviews Please

Just back! after reading these reviews we were scared!!! Was lovely! Pool is fantastic and very clean! Waiters are funny and friendly! Rooms basic but clean and adequate! nothing wrong with them! Hotel itself is a 5 min walk to centre of resort!!! Perfect! Hotel is set in gorgeous woodlands with back drop of mountains! Very pretty! Didnt go all inclusive and wouldnt to be honest as all the restaurants are very close! I must reccomend the OLIVE TREE restaurant! it is the best in the resort go there once and promise you wont go anywhere else! food is amazing and priced at same as other restaurants but you get so much more and its quality food! waiters are very friendly and owner is great too! overall would go back to Green Forest but next time going to stop in the Olive Tree studios! Halo effect from the restaurant!!! Seriously though ignore the bad reviews you will have a great time!!!
IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS
by TripAdvisor Member SLEEMAN
There was 11 of us that stayed at this Hotel on the 21st September for a week 8 Adults and 3 Children and we all said what a lovely Holiday we had.
The rooms were basic but very clean, clean towels etc everyday.
When we booked and I read some reviews I was very worried about going but PLEASE IGNORE these reviews as I feel some people expect to much for what you pay.
The children loved the small zoo which had Tortoisies,Rabbits and Guiena pigs there was also a fish pond and there were also some Peacocks around the side of the Hotel, there is a smaller childrens pool and also there is a little park with swings and seesaw.
The staff were very friendly and polite and were always there to help you.
The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from Hisaronu and situated in the pine forest.
Overall we all enjoyed our stay and will go back and stay at this hotel again.

Gas attack horrors

My partner and I visited this resort in september for a week. the area has great views and lots of little pubs, clubs and restaurants around. Fethiye is a great holiday destination.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were shocked at what was supposed to be (as far as we knew) a 4 star hotel. To begin with, the room was small and cramped with not enough room on the balcony to swing a kitten.
When we got to the bathroom, we realised the shower head was broken so we couldn't take a shower.
While in all fairness the shower head was fixed shortly after we reported it, the bathroom stunk of sewage the entire week, no matter how much we sprayed it.
Sleeping was hard - if it wasn't the mosquitos it was the sounds of the local insomniac black cockerel sounding off at all hours that kept us awake!
The pool was large and clean, and we had a great view of the surrounding mountains from the poolside area.
Food was nice but unvaried. The "entertainment" was a tone-deaf singer who only seemed to know about five songs, all of them depressing. It got to the stage where we didn't care that the food was 'free', we just wanted to get out!
One thing that annoyed me most was the fact that they had a big screen projector in the hotel but only put it on when the staff wanted to watch something (turkish football etc). The rest of the time it was off, as if it wasn't worth putting it on just for us.
We thought...well this hotel could be really great if the management just spent a little more on upkeep and the staff made you feel a little more welcome.
Finally....
One night, about quarter to eleven, my girlfriend was shocked to find white smoke outside our window. When I looked out in the corridor, I saw thick, oily-smelling clouds of white smoke coming down the corridor in both directions. I jumped to the wrong conclusion and thought it was either a fire or some kind of terrorist attack - some of the older residents were really getting into a state.
I looked down and some men in gas masks were spraying something at the hotel! So my girlfriend and I took deeep breaths, rushed through this fog (it was very frightening I don't mind telling you) and rushed down to the lobby. Terrified elderly couples followed in nighties and dressing gowns soon afterward.
It turned out that no-one had thought to inform us about this "standard mosquito spraying". And they seemed quite amused by our reactions, despite the recent terrorist attacks!
bad experience in the Green Forest
by TripAdvisor Member delsearch
I had a bad eperience whilst on an All Inclusive holiday and eventualy had to be moved. I know that there were a lot of other people there at the same time who had a bad time with the food and other problems. for some it was a little tolerable as they were not AI and went out into the town at night. If it is permisable on this site I would like you to send me your bad experiences around this time (July, Aug,Sep, Oct.) The previous years it had been owned by someone else and there was a couple who had been to this hotel for four years running but they said that this would be the last for them, they ate out every day although they hadpaid for the meals in the hotel.
Thank you
What you pay?!
by TripAdvisor Member weestoater
Have any of these people worked out how much they paid to what they got. The prices for this hotel are certainly not 4* prices (so there is an inidication) Turkey does not rate hotels in the same way that they are rated here in the UK. MY opinion is for what I paid I got excellent value for money.
Rooms were clean, had everythin I needed, towels were changed regularly, staff were friendly. Food got a bit boring, but I have never stayed at an all inclusive where it didn't. Again for what I paid, I knew I could eat out a few nights a week for a change.
dont listern to the bad reviews

i was greeted when i got there by lovely reception sfaff who took me to my room and couldnt do enough for me.from there i went for a turkish bath and massage at the hotel which was the perfect start to the holiday.the rooms are very basic but clean ,clean towels and bedding every day(i will say the balcony is very small and cant sit on it which i was disappointed in)the other thing is the cockrall that starts at all hours making a noise which i did complian about, but nothing was done about that.the pool was very large and clean also a small pool for the children.if you do not like turkish food or you love the full english breakfast then the hotel food is not for you ,but if you like turkish and are willing to try the food then you will love it,at night they bake fresh bread every night while you wait ,its to die for.i did find that the staff would sit to have food which i found abit strange, also when i first got there the staff did not wear uniform so you didnt know who was who ,but that changed after a couple of days when they was givern t shirts to wear with the name of the hotel on in this respect it could have been a little more organised and professional, the evening entertainment was not good at all,but with a 5 min walk in to the centre it was good ,the hotel was set far enough away from the centre to make you feel you was away from it all, lovely views of the mountians.over all the hotel was good but not 4 star more 2/3 star.you get what you pay for.i had a relaxing holiday that what i went for and thats what i got.

fethiye in october

My husband and I are going to Fethiye for a week in mid october. Are the evenings really cool? Can anyone suggest some nice fish restaurant for a romantic evening. Thanks

Yes evenings are really cool. You must bring some warm pulovers. It may rain also. You can also buy in the market what ever you wish. There is a Turkish proverb states: "If two hearts love each other even the barn is the best place for them" Have good romantic evenings.

There is a lovely restaurant alongside the marina which should serve some good fish dishes, though being vegetarian I never tried them.
If George's cocktail Bar is still there it is also a good place for a relaxing drink.
Good advice on the pullovers though, it can get a bit chilly of an evening!
I intend to post some Fethiye pictures soon...watch my pages for them!
Take care and enjoy your trip

You will probably only need something to put over your shoulders in the evening, you can buy gorgeous Pashminas out there for £6. My friend who lives out there was sunbathing on the beach on Christmas Day last year!
For a romantic evening, take a Dolmus (or Taxi if you really want to posh it up) into Olu Deniz (12km) for the evening and go to the garden restaurant called Captain Hooks. This is joined on to the equally plush Asena Beach Hotel in the main street. You will experience excellent Silver Service and fresh, cooked in front of you, fish. With the exchange rate at the moment, you will find this very good value for money.
Then relax on a comfy deck chair on the beach at the beach front bar (and try a Shisha for added fun!)
