The best option is to take your bank crad and withdraw cash from an ATM. Always use Turkish Lira if possible as if you use foreign currecy the shops usually add a small hidden surcharge.
If you don't have an ATM card, just bring whatever currency is most convienent to you, you can easily exchange all major currencies in Turkey.

Has stated take your card,Nationwide being the best as no charges are incurred.
Other than that take with you about £50 of Turkish lira to get you started.
The rest of your money I would take in £ making sure I had plenty of £10 and £5
notes because these are always and readily accepted in the shops and market for the purchase of clothing shoes handbags etc.
For purchases in bars and restaurents I use lira.
When changing your sterling use the local supermarkets or at the bar you have befriended after first enquiring of the rate they will offer.

Off course if your from a country who use the euro or dollar you would take this currency.
Scottish pounds are not accepted anywhere in Icmeler.

Just a little footnote.
When in Icmeler the first thing to do is to get a safe and place all your valuables in it,these are always avaliable from the hotel or apartments were you are staying.
Peace of mind

We went to Icmeler just over a year ago. You will find they take all the currencies. We found that Lira and GBP were the most widely used, only because it is mainly brits there. If you go to the Market (a must) take lots of fivers and tenners cos a lot of things are five for a tenner etc. Loads of cheap T shirts, Handbags and lovely beach towels.

Travel Tips for Icmeler

Beautiful scenery & friendly turkish people

by doreenellen

The hosptiality of the locals was amazing and together with the beautiful scenery, it was a holiday of a lifetime. On three sides were the rolling rich green hills and the rest the bay of Icmeler. Sea was so clear and blue with it's little pier for the water taxis.
We met some lovely people and their families who all seem to live in the village and whom all had brothers, or cousins working in the shops or bars etc. We were welcomed wherever we ventured.
In the old village, there are the original houses and part of the farms and new hotels and apartments. Also a little tea garden selling all drinks apart from tea.

. The people, and the scenery are the main factors to return. But the food, culture and sunshine too. Next time we must venture out and see the Historic places. It is too easy to stay in Icmeler and enjoy it all and not travel far.
The Goats and their owner made a lovely picture

Better than Excellent

by Ronaldliz about Bonjour Restaurant

The restaurant is under new management. Charlie the new owner is a real gentleman who goes the extra mile for his customers. He is quite well known to the regular visitor to icmeler as he has worked in a number of the finer establishments in the resort.
When we first met Charlie ,my wife Liz was feeling quite poorly and the chemist next to the restaurant was closed. I asked Charlie if he could interperate the sign in the window and although he didnt know us, he drove us all over Icmeler to find a chemist open on a Sunday.
He did this out of kindness, he's a real gentleman and a very nice person. The food we tried was some of the best, weve had anywhere. all tasty and of good quality. I would recommend the Bonjour restraurant Icmeler, to anyone visiting the resort. There is no one special dish as all the food is exceptional.

ICMELER an alternative to Marmaris

by balhannah

Icmeler, only 5 miles from Marmaris!

What a nice little spot it is.

It looks to be a popular resort with families .

It wasn't that busy with Tourists when I was here, but I should think it would be a very popular place in the "High Season"

The beach is a mixture of coarse sand and fine shingle with calm shallow waters and has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas.

As well, there are all types of watersports available , and seperate areas for the swimmers .

The views from the beach are quite stunning , either looking out to sea at the islands in the distance or the mountain backdrop behind the old village .

Behind the beach and along the promenade are restaurants , shops and bars .

Icmeler for me, was much nicer & prettier than neighbouring Marmaris , with wide streets lined with trees and colourful flowerbeds . The resort was stunning and had the most beautiful gardens.

I loved the pretty little canal running through the town, the shops, and the sea front restaurants where I had a nice meal.

The Promenade walk was lovely too, getting great views from either end.

I was glad I came here for a visit, I certainly enjoyed it!
