Beautiful scenery & friendly turkish people
by doreenellen
The hosptiality of the locals was amazing and together with the beautiful scenery, it was a holiday of a lifetime. On three sides were the rolling rich green hills and the rest the bay of Icmeler. Sea was so clear and blue with it's little pier for the water taxis.
We met some lovely people and their families who all seem to live in the village and whom all had brothers, or cousins working in the shops or bars etc. We were welcomed wherever we ventured.
In the old village, there are the original houses and part of the farms and new hotels and apartments. Also a little tea garden selling all drinks apart from tea.
. The people, and the scenery are the main factors to return. But the food, culture and sunshine too. Next time we must venture out and see the Historic places. It is too easy to stay in Icmeler and enjoy it all and not travel far.
The Goats and their owner made a lovely picture
Better than Excellent
by Ronaldliz about Bonjour Restaurant
The restaurant is under new management. Charlie the new owner is a real gentleman who goes the extra mile for his customers. He is quite well known to the regular visitor to icmeler as he has worked in a number of the finer establishments in the resort.
When we first met Charlie ,my wife Liz was feeling quite poorly and the chemist next to the restaurant was closed. I asked Charlie if he could interperate the sign in the window and although he didnt know us, he drove us all over Icmeler to find a chemist open on a Sunday.
He did this out of kindness, he's a real gentleman and a very nice person. The food we tried was some of the best, weve had anywhere. all tasty and of good quality. I would recommend the Bonjour restraurant Icmeler, to anyone visiting the resort. There is no one special dish as all the food is exceptional.
ICMELER an alternative to Marmaris
by balhannah
Icmeler, only 5 miles from Marmaris!
What a nice little spot it is.
It looks to be a popular resort with families .
It wasn't that busy with Tourists when I was here, but I should think it would be a very popular place in the "High Season"
The beach is a mixture of coarse sand and fine shingle with calm shallow waters and has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas.
As well, there are all types of watersports available , and seperate areas for the swimmers .
The views from the beach are quite stunning , either looking out to sea at the islands in the distance or the mountain backdrop behind the old village .
Behind the beach and along the promenade are restaurants , shops and bars .
Icmeler for me, was much nicer & prettier than neighbouring Marmaris , with wide streets lined with trees and colourful flowerbeds . The resort was stunning and had the most beautiful gardens.
I loved the pretty little canal running through the town, the shops, and the sea front restaurants where I had a nice meal.
The Promenade walk was lovely too, getting great views from either end.
I was glad I came here for a visit, I certainly enjoyed it!
